hey, i need some help. i just bought family guy vol. 1 on dvd. and my mom's pissed off at me for doing that. she doesn't like it. she said she will watch it and that will determine whether i keep it or have to sell it. so, what i need to know, which episode is pretty clean or decent, and which disk its on. thank you, josh
Tough situation. Really, you're only chance is to show her something loaded with "smart" comedy (ones that you may even get your Mom to like). These are my recommendations...
Disc 1 "I Never Met The Dead Man" "Brian: Portrait Of A Dog"
I would start off by showing her "Brian: Portrait Of A Dog," then if she's not satisfied, show her any of the other ones above.
I would so tell you to show her "Road To Rhode Island" (from Disc 3) cause it's the best ep in the set, cause the Stewie/Brian stuff is pretty clean and very excellent, but the whole "Peter watching porn" subplot may turn your Mom off.
alright, well, she doesn't like the whole porn/crude funny stuff, so, yeah, i'll definitely choose one of those. and yah, she does let me watch those, but she just calls it stupid and stuff like that. so if i choose a pretty clean one, she maybe ok with it once she sees it. so thx to both of u

Exactly how old are you again?
I never thought of Family Guy to be dirty. It may have some crude humour, but it's nothing compared to South Park.
I play chicken with the train, play chicken with the train train, uh-huh uh-huh!

It's kind of funny you say that. My wife will usually watch South Park with me because some things work on higher levels (the WalMart episode, for example, since she hates the place) but she would walk out on Family Guy. I got her to sit through the Road to Rhode Island mainly because she's a big fan of the old "Road to..." movies and the song hit on all cylinders.
Personally I enjoy them both, but Family Guy just is a little too random to put on equal footing with South Park for my tastes.

i'm 15, yah, i know family guy's nothing compared to south park or anything, but my mom just doesn't like the crude humor. It maybe ok if theres a little of it, but not much. so, i need to show her an episode that doesn't have much so i can keep the dvd.
Reading this thread makes me happy to have been raised by open minded parents. I can't believe that you still have to justify your purchases at the age of 15.

Totally agreed; my folks didn't even bat an eye when I brought home the original Mortal Kombat, and subsequently Mortal Kombat II. That's not to say that they were negligent parents; instead, they trusted my game buying decisions and knew that I was mature enough to understand the game content and that it wasn't real.
My teen years revolved around DX, and Beavis & Butthead, which, I believe, are much cruder than Family Guy is.
