Like The Simpsons earlier tonight, this was a better episode for the jokes than any of the actual plots. Some of the better jokes:

-Adam West getting the answer to one question.
-The return of the not-quite-Americanized foreign guys. Between them and the Boob Lady on The Simpsons, this has been a good night for return cameos.
-The Italian guy in any given situation.
-The funnest musical number the show's had in a long time.
-Quagmire getting reincarnated as a condom.
-Peter channeling Lou Costello.

Didn't love either plot, though I'm VERY surprised with the surprising amount of restraint (well...restraint, as far as Seth MacFarlane goes) shown with the Down Syndrome girl. But the plots didn't set my world on fire and I was a bit put off by the sudden ending.

And really, I should mention that the Sarah Palin references are getting old. They did this on The Cleveland Show too. Did she kick Seth MacFarlane's dog or something?

Gotta mention the doggy dominatrix....my favorite bit in the episode. And yeah, I thought they were quite restrained with this one too. I couldn't help but think back to the stroke episode and how shocked I was they showed Peter like that- I didn't think they pushed it too far (well, for Family Guy) here.

And now, a follow-up. The reason FG practiced restraint with the Down Syndrome girl is because the voice actress has Down Syndrome, herself.

palingates: Andrea Friedman, actress from "Family Guy" sets the record straight after Sarah Palin's Facebook rant

My name is Andrea Fay Friedman. I was born with Down syndrome. I played the role of Ellen on the "Extra Large Medium" episode of Family Guy that was broadcast on Valentine's day. Although they gave me red hair on the show, I am really a blonde. I also wore a red wig for my role in " Smudge" but I was a blonde in "Life Goes On". I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line "I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska" was very funny. I think the word is "sarcasm".

I have a few thoughts after this.

1. I respectfully disagree on the Palin line. I don't think it was funny. I don't think it was funny because it poked fun at Sarah Palin. I just don't think it was funny, because it wasn't funny.

2. I respect FG a lot more for using an actress with Down Syndrome for this role. It would have been REALLY easy to grab just anyone to do the role and for the show to go down its normal route of poking fun at it, but they actually took the high road. Good for them.

It was funny to me. I also don't think it was aimed at the kid and I don't think Palin saw it either. I can't imagine her and the rest of the Hee-Haw family on Sunday Night watching this instead of ABC Family or CMT.

RZA's love letter to all the martial arts movies he loves. (backofthehead.com) SPOILERS. I admit, I mainly saw it for Dave Bautista and he's all over this picture. I liked it a lot.
