| #1 Posted on 8.10.08 2208.43 | Instant Rating: 8.86 | How come nobody told me that Sunday's "Family Guy" contained THE funniest ten minutes of television I'd seen in .... well a good long time?
Here, go watch it yourself on Hulu and tell me how wrong I am: http://www.hulu.com/watch/37768/family-guy-i-dream-of-jesus
Of course, the rest of it couldn't be as good as that first act....and for that we can blame Jesus. Nah, just kiddin' Jesus. You're still my Man.
Just checked...a certain song is currently #78 on the iTunes 100. That also makes me laugh.

It is the policy of the documentary crew to remain true observers and not interfere with its subjects.

| #5 Posted on 9.10.08 0020.09 | Instant Rating: 4.56 | I've always thought that one of these days, Family Guy was going to stretch one of their elongated gaga over an entire episode. This was probably as close as they've ever come. My favourite moment was probably Peter turning on the lights and revealing that he's right on top of Lois, singing/yelling in her face.
The Jesus storyline was, frankly, not even needed.
How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person Im portraying. Youre confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard, and I said You are aware that I am not really a wizard? and Peter Jackson said I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show. So I said Okay and then I said to myself Mmm.. How do I do that? And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras | whatever

I thought for sure she was going to break a lamp over his head at that point.

Gotta agree - although it provided for the "OHHHH CRAP!" moment at the end of the episode.
Loved the seizure, too. "Brian, NO!"
The Office Space nod was definitely icing on the cake.

I thought that was funny when I saw it in Office Space, but I didn't think it offered anything in Family Guy. I get it writers, you've seen movies. So have I. You don't need to chew up 3 minutes to recreate a scene shot for shot. A quick nod would have done just as much as showing the whole scene. | Whitebacon

Thanks to this bit, I used a certain song once or twice during intermissions and post-event at our latest ACW show this past Saturday.
Almost the whole crowd got the joke. Thanks, "Family Guy!"

I disagree. I loved the shot for shot sequence. It was like in "Cripple Fight" on South Park where the recreated scene for scene the alley fight in They Live. The Office Space part was my favorite bit. Made me want to watch Office Space - which is always a good thing.
And for the first time in a while, I loved the elongated joke of The Bird. It was awesome. I loved how Peter got everyone to get him started on it and Stewie screaming either "Brian NO" or "Oh Crap". Great episode.
"Marriage is like that show Everybody Loves Raymond, but its not funny. All the problems are the same, but you know instead of all the funny, pithy dialogue, everybody is really pissed off and tense. Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of 'Everybody Loves Raymond', only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."
