We do indeed have an indy fed here in Phoenix. While they usually have their every-other-Tuesday shows at "Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill" out in Mesa (eeesh), this Memorial Day weekend they had a show at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix.
We all know I'm not a recapper, & hopefully there'll be some video &/or recap happiness showing up online. (They were video recording the show, & there were some guys recording commentary, so I'm guessing it's just going to take them some time to get the video together.)
The short version: This was really fun, & much better quality than I'd expected it to be!! Johnny Stamboli is apparently a regular & had 2 matches (one as himself & one as Rellik.) Bill DeMott was the Guest Commissioner. And the ME ended up being Val Venis, Derick Neikirk & the former A-Train vs. the local heel contingent of The Freak Squad.
(Oddly, Tommy Dreamer had been advertised for this, but seemingly bailed several days ahead. Hence the surprise appearance by A-Train. And now I see a report (pwinsider.com) that Tommy wasn't at Impact taping. Although his twitter (twitter.com) looks quite benign.)
I'm a little confused (big shock), but how can they have a registered trademark on a real name? I mean, does that mean is Chris Benoit left and went to TNA, he can't use his name because WWE trademarked it? Sorry if this is a dumb question.....
