Good show with two moty candidates and really with one bad match and one match with a bad finish. Jericho vs Ambrose had a good finish but the match stunk to high heaven and they got twenty six minutes and just died out there with the crowd not being into the match and really not given any reason to be, this was among Jericho's worst matches ever.

The four way IC title match was tremendous fun with all four men bringing the awesome with the Miz continuing his resurgence and the other three guys are among the best in the world. It sure looks like we'll get Miz vs Cesaro next month with maybe Zaun and Owens being in the money in the bank match. This match is worth your time to watch no question.

AJ vs Reigns was fantastic, way better than their first match with AJ taking fucking insane bumps with the backdrop from one table to the next that was ridiculously painful looking. AJ is dealing with ankle and back injuries yet you couldn't tell the way he was moving and taking bumps. Reigns held his own and AJ tried to get Roman over but the crowd despised Roman and loved AJ. Hopefully Vince is coming to appreciate AJ's greatness and doesn't push him down too far down the card

Crowd was jacked to see Rollins back and he'd be a awesome babyface but since Vince is stubborn Rollins will be forced to play a heel vs a guy everyone hates.

Woman's match was not good with a dopey finish and the tornado tag match was disjointed but at least the right team went over. Kalisto vs Rusev was good too bad Rusev is only keeping the title warm for Cena instead of getting a push.

If you're not watching these live, you want to watch the four way and the main event, and you can pretty much skip everything else. Nothing else was as bad as the cage match, but it was all filler.

The Ambrose match was not good at all, but the bigger indictment of Jericho is how much better AJ Styles looks in this feud with Roman Reigns than he did in the months before. These matches have gotten more time, get do more stuff, and Reigns may be a better type of opponent for Styles, but it's so much better than the Jericho feud. Styles has lost every big match against Reigns and yet comes out of this looking so much better than when he was going 50/50 with Jericho. AJ looked like the best wrestler in the world tonight, the likely wrestler of the year, and a HOF caliber wrestler in these last two matches. Barring injury or disastrous booking, Styles looks like he's going to be WWE champion at some point.

They keep pushing off resolving the Styles/Club stuff, but there's not much more they can do with it if Styles is out of the title picture (and the order of events suggest he is.) They can't drag it out much longer. Monday seems like the day to resolve it, though there's some historical precedent for doing the big angle on Memorial Day.

What do you even do with Ambrose at this point?

That might have been the best WWE 4-Way since Taker/Vader/Austin/Hart IYH. Incredible action.

Reigns and Styles was everything you want on a main event. If you are still hating on Roman Reigns, I don't know what to tell you.

Some real highs and some real lows tonight, but my God the highs were amazing.

I don't hate Reigns, I just hate how he is Samon Superman. The sper shouldn't stop AJ after AJ murdered him with the chair. AJ being champ is just not going to happen this year or possibly ever. Everytime we get a guy like AJ or Dean, they find ways not to cash in on that person due to what Vince or HHH wants or stupudity or politics. They let them become devalued and you get what you have in Dean. A guy people are invested, but has been so beaten down he is damaged goods.

Minus Rusev winning and Seth returning nothing happened. Why Miz is champ is beyond me. Sasha is hurt. And we get ratings and Sting killer back. A parade we should be holding, I think not.

That asylum match may have been bad overall, but man did Jericho take those tacks like a champ! Only thing I wonder about the match is why they didn't use Mitch Junior at all. That seemed to be what the crowd wanted most.

Reigns has truly improved to be everything they need him to be as a Main Event Style top card guy. Specifically, he's excelling at the early 2000s demolition derby style main event match, which fits his character. This is, of course, where he needed to be before challenging Lesnar in a WrestleMania Main Event, and I think I did a pretty solid job of laying out way back then what they had done wrong (and are finally doing right) by failing to do the work and mold him into the worker he is now, despite having all the people around him who could have gotten him there if they'd shown any planning or restraint at the time.

Consider, if you will, if they'd realized or acknowledged that they hadn't done the work on Reigns yet in 2014/2015. What if Roman Reigns had been the guy to end Rusev's undefeated streak and reclaim the US Title, instead giving us a Bryan/Lesnar match where Rollins steals away Bryan's belt in what would basically turn out to be Bryan's farewell match (giving Rollins that much more heat)? Imagine a Roman Reigns who gets that cool WrestleMania moment but in a way that fans would accept, and then, with that fan backing, spends 2015 defending the US title against literally the greatest workers in the world, slowly turning his attention to Rollins and the Authority. THAT Roman Reigns winning at WrestleMania this year? THAT Roman Reigns putting on these amazing matches against AJ Styles and an invading The Club?

THAT would be a guy you could build a company around: the engine of destruction behind The Shield who earned his way to the top the hard way. Reigns earning his way there as US Champ, helping destroy The Authority and winning the belt, only to face a sudden influx of talent from other companies, all gunning for him? You could do pretty much anything you wanted with that guy.

But, this is The Guy we got. A guy finally capable of putting on the big money matches when paired with top talent, but someone so damaged by shitty, poorly-planned and fan-spiting booking that he'll get rejected no matter what he does. And they still don't totally get it, because as great as Styles/Reigns was on this show, they did the same crowd-killing finish. Reigns eating 22 finishers, including super ultra death penalty versions of said finishers, only to kick out and win with one hit of his finisher? That doesn't make him look strong, it makes the people you could be winning over resent him more because that's how they booked Cena for a decade.

Like, damn, help The Guy out. If he's going to put on fantastic stunt shows like that, book him an ending where he goes over in a way that makes it feel right and doesn't feel like a deflating balloon shooting Styles (and whoever comes next) back out of contention. Don't have your top guy steamroll all competition immediately if you need him to be on top for a decade, because we know how that works. We'll be reminded of it in a week, even.

Anyway, good for Roman, but still, don't give up when you're this close. Fix it. It can't be that hard.

(Four way was awesome, too. The talent this company has is insane. Get creative with it.)

I would have put money on Son of a Mitch being the finish for Ambrose/Jericho.

And, what I'm about to say is painful, but, what's the return policy for the Gift of Jericho? He's not been particularly great since his latest comeback.

To be fair, AJ ate 22 finishers and kicked out of every single one BUT the last one. The story -- in my eyes -- was that the combined effects of everything is what did him in. And if Reigns lost, it would have been the combined effects of everything. And I think the announcers played into that very well, too, talking about everything each of them had gone through.

And it wasn't a simple "one hit of his finisher" either -- it was his finisher combating the finisher of his opponent; in WWE land, that's a common end.

Interesting thing about last night's show was that there were no live McMahons. Of course, WWE still managed to keep Shane (Foley podcast ads) and Steph (Camp WWE ads) strong. They didn't manage to edit Stardust out of their Network sizzle reel in time, either!

I see what you are getting at, but this wasn't a case of Hulking Up to get the win. https://twitter.com/DeathToAllMarks/status/734799585726627840

Roman Reigns is great: a great heel. Too bad JBL insists on telling me he's just a megastar about whom we are passionate.

Usos - Club was an average starter. But they got it out of the way fast enough.
Rusev - Calisto was alright, nothing spectacular other than the way Rusev bended him in half at the end.
Tag match wasn't bad either, just nothing new.
However, is Big E getting annoyed by Xavier's joking? Is this leading to a break or something?

IC title match was awesome. The Miz is a good heel champ and held his own in there. All of them shone and I liked how they played up that Sami's obsession with Owens cost him the match.

Women's match was alright, they tried to do some decent submission wrestling & psychology. But then the silly ending.

Main event was awesome. I didn't like the finish because I think it'd looked better if Roman had to struggle or maybe use a chair himself to get the pin. But it was a great match.
Rolins' return was somewhat expected but still a great moment.
And of course now it'll be revealed he's behind Gallows/Anderson. Club 2.0 vs Shield 2.0 (Reigns, AJ, Ambrose)

I meant to bring that up as well. My first thought was that this was the first step to a Four Horsewomen. We shall see.

This... I'll all for WWE blurring the line. It's happened before at times. Such as when Daniel Bryan first teamed up with Kane as Team Hell No. Even still being rediculously cheered in did sublte heel things & yelling NO! Eventually they dropped him doing any cheating so it was the odd couple tag team that gelled.

Worst example of a backlash has been John Cena... he's been booed... which means he should be a heel. Some of the wording they've used to describe the reaction Cena gets has been tranfered over to a Roman's reaction.

Overall, I'm okay with it but I hear it from many in the industry all the time. There is a "good guy" & a "bad guy" or there isn't any professional wrestling.

Reigns is just fine in the ring, but as a television character, he's still missing a lot and that's always been what WWE has needed and looked for in a top guy.

He's always seemingly defined by his opponents rather than being an emotional anchor unto his own. With Reigns, we're not rooting against him. We're rooting against the general apathy he brings.

In-ring, I have no worries that I'm getting a great main event when I see something like Styles/Reigns or Rollins/Reigns on the card. Should be a great summer of main events, at least.

Hope the US Title win isn't a death sentence for Rusev to start losing constantly and that there's an actual plan here.

Really hoping the next step for The Club is a tag title shot where they win.

Women's match was a letdown. I think we're well past the point of Charlotte needing Flair. It's just doing nothing for me.

I hope not to see Jericho and Ambrose feuding again on my TV. It's over. Leave that one be. Maybe do Rusev vs Ambrose?

I like three of the guys in the IC Title feud, and it was a great match, but hope Miz drops it soon.

I don't think it's teasing a break, I think it's just a way to keep things grounded. Remember, this is the company where a few years ago Hornswoggle painted a hole on a wall and then ran through it to escape someone, someone who tried to follow and found that it was just paint on a wall. Having Big E say "It's just a refrigerator box" is a way to confirm that it's just a silly segment and we're not supposed to believe that the New Day is actually traveling back in time.

In the tag match, when Kofi and Big E were taken out and they had Xavier in the corner, you could hear an audible buzz in the audience. People knew the Vaudevillains were setting up their finisher, and they were worried that New Day would lose. Then Xavier kicked out, and all was right with the world, but it was still to me a unique tension you don't often see in a match like that.

And Xavier got to take a jab at Kenny Omega, as he hit a Hadoken early in the match. The feud continues!

I was there live. Overall, pretty amazing atmosphere, particularly for the IC and WHC title matches.

I saw people complaining about the crowd for the US title match, but frankly, it *was* a little boring, at least in the early goings. It was a much better TV match.

The New Day is quite over.

The Helluva Kick Outta Nowhere to start the IC title match was just awesome and set the tone for the crowd that didn't die at all through that incredible match.

As the Asylum Match got going, I found myself impressed with WWE's self-awareness that you know what, this actually was the best choice for a cool-off match following the four-way. But then it just kept going and going and going. One poor soul in my section started a "This is awesome" chant - after 15 minutes - and was soundly ridiculed. I had a very small window of opportunity to snap a pic of the cage after it was raised back up with Son of Mitch hanging all by itself, but they turned down the lights before I could do it.

Poor Dana Brooke was standing in position at the top of the entranceway with her arms outstretched for a good 15-20 seconds before Ric Flair's music hit.

I guess there are folks out there that deny WWE turns down crowd noise. I would just like to say that the heat for Roman Reigns throughout the ME, but particularly during his entrance, was just off the charts. I watched the show back later that night and the next day - the arena versus TV reactions for every other segment were comparable. Not the case for the ME.

You askew my mirror. I askew yours.
