On Saturday, October 16th, I will be participating in Extra Life 2010.
Extra Life is a 24 hour fund-raising gaming marathon started by the website sarcasticgamer.com. Last year was my first competing and I went the full 24. I broadcasted live on justin.tv and had many wonderful friends come over and cheer me on. It was an amazing experience.
Last year so many people donated to make this a success. My individual goal was $200 and I ended up raising over twice that amount. This year I’ve set my goal at $500. With your help it is totally doable! Whether you want to donate a lump sum or donate X amount of dollars per hour, we have you covered. Last year’s funds went to the Texas Children’s Hospital to help fight cancer. This year we were allowed to select our hospital. I have selected Children’s Hospital in Richmond, VA.
My brother was born in 1981 with a cleft lip. The doctors and surgeons at the Children’s Hospital in Richmond did an amazing job on him. I’ve never forgotten how well they treated him and my family. It would make me very happy to give back to them for all they gave us!

Well, the original plan for this year was going to be 24 hours of WoW. I think we're going to do a lot of old school games instead. I'm going to start off with the first four Mega Man games, and then the first three Zeldas. After that, who knows? I have plenty of games to keep me busy.

Am I in Horseville? Because I'm hearing nothing but naysayers!
I can't actually see anything but a very bright light where the TV is, but I DID see some sort of celebration involving a Mountain Dew Throwback.
If my math is correct, he's only about 7 hours in, so you still have some time to see ... a man playing video games. Yes. Probably when it's darker outside at his house you'll have a better view of the TV (but a worse view of the players - so I guess it's all a matter of what you want to prioritize when you watch the live stream, INNIT.)
There's also a quick link to his donation page on our front page today. (Sorry I didn't get that up sooner - or get up sooner at all, for that matter) If you haven't sent five or ten bucks his way, please help him get to 100% before I make Aaron cover the spread.
Our webcam sucks. There was no good way to set this up. Still, we're going strong here. I did achieve and exceed my goal, so that was great. We've still got two hours to go, though, and I'm starting to fade. Hopefully I can stay strong and finish out on top.

From Gamasutra Nintendo is taking the restrictions off pricing for the GameCube and allowing stores to sell it for whatever price they wish. This could end up with GC's going for $50, in which case I'll finally buy one.
