If you really are an Indians fan, you should like this deal for the future. Colon is expensive and is now 29 instead of 26 years old. Brandon Phillips is going to be an All-Star Caliber player at either shortstop or third base. Cliff Lee is one of the best pitchers in the Eastern League and Grady Sizemore has a huge upside. They couldn't have gotten more from any other team.
So, be like us Royals fans and play for next year and the year after.

He hasn't hit one home run in the FSL this year and only his two last year, so I wonder if he'll pull a Weinke *snicker* and end up as the UW's quarterback in 2005. He was being touted as the next Marques Tuiasosopo when he committed to UW but took the dough from the 'Spos instead.
Re: Fantasy impact of the trade. ESPN showed a start that Colon has the best winning percentage of any pitcher in interleague play (12-2, I think was his record.) Plus, it seems that when pitchers switch leagues they often have an advantage of the hitters for a while, so I'd definitely stick with him. | cfgb

I didn't find humor in his post!
If the Expos are lingering around the top come August, they will undoubtedly go on strike. No other team wants to be shown up by the Spos, for whatever reason.
I'm a Braves fan and all, but still a tad peeved at Tom Glavine's role in the last work stoppage. He along with the other big name players who were speaking out should have found some agreement.
But then I guess we wouldn't be talking about the Braves dynasty then huh?
1994 is the only time I've ever really felt contempt for my ballclub.

It's funny Montreal could have won a World Series in 94 and be ready to play in their new stadium next year (winning teams=stadiums...ask Seattle). Now they will be lucky to get out of this year with a couple of their top prospects and no strike.
It's kind of cool watching a team go for broke.

Not a chance!
The Expos are in 2nd place, with a winning record, an exciting ballclub, by FAR the lowest ticket prices in baseball that once a week go even LOWER ($5 CANADIAN for a ticket, a $1 for hotdogs on promotion nights!!!!) and yet I think the fans out here were celebrating during the Cleveland series because during one of the games they drew 12,000....
The ballpark is in a real shitty part of town, not to mention the fact the park is a hole itself. I never feel comfortable inside that place because it just looks and feels like at any given moment it could fall to pieces.
In 1994 the Expos gave the fans a reason to believe - and baseball cut them short. The fans have NEVER forgiven them in Montreal, and obviously many around the world feel the same (taking CRZ's statement into consideration).
It doesn't help any they don't have a TV deal either. The Blue Jays are constantly blacked out around here, so people often have to wonder if baseball even EXISTS in Canada.
If they gave away free seats I still don't think they'd get half capacity. People just don't want to attend their games.
And with all the reasons listed above, I can't say I blame them.

Some rich person(Mark Cuban, I'm looking at you, buddy!) should take a small amount of his money and purchase the team. Move them to somewhere they have a shot at making money, and use their young talent for years.
On the downside, the Rangers could use a young starter(Vazquez, Armas...) in the Contraction Draft :)

The other thing to keep in mind throughout this is that the Ottawa Lynx (The Expos' Triple A team) is fielding a competitive team day in and day out. Exciting games and VERY cheap prices ($6.50 for decent seats) and there's never a sell out. None even close. And now they have to contend with the Ottawa Renegades for attendance. I swear myself and my girlfriend are the only two people who are making plans to go to more than one game. So even if the Expos survive fo rnexy year, where are their farm system going to go?
