So, Jeff "the complex one" Hardy is gone? Just read it on wrestleview. What's that all about?
I know I've read the stories about him consistently showing up late, etc. but I would think it takes a lot more than that to walk away from the WWE. One side of me says the poor thing will end up in some rehab being addicted to pain killers or something from all the bumps and seemingly endless work schedule. And another part of me says he simply took his marbles and went home. Either way, I for one will miss him. Always had a soft spot for him.
"WWE.com regrets to inform its fans that WWE has severed its relationship with Jeff Hardy effective today. We wish Jeff the best of luck."
That's the sort of wording that implies WWE was pretty pissed, & they tossed Jeff. With Raven (f'rinstance) the wording was something along the lines of "released from his contract" -- that's the kind of wording you use when its amicable.
I would think that no-show-ing regularly would be one thing that would get to Vince real quick -- if those rumours are true. Especially if we also believe the rumours that WWE had tried to work with Jeff, cutting back his schedule & such.
Jeff wasn't on Raw, nor apparently did he work anything for Heat or the dark matches. That coupled with the fact that the announcement came out mid-day today (Tuesday) makes me wildly speculate that: 1) Jeff no-show'd last night, in Atlanta (which is about the easiest place to get to from Sanford, NC); 2) Vince got fed up, called it breach of contract, & dumped him. But that's just one girl's wild-ass guess.
Its a shame -- the boy did some cool stuff that really entertained me. I just hope that whatever happens next for him is good & makes him happy.
emma, your guess sounds reasonable to me. In the past, Vince has seemed willing to put up with just about everything from Jeff because Jeff is so popular. It must have been something fairly major to finally break the camel's back. I hope it had nothing to do with drugs.
I had a bad feeling about him when they didn't even mention him on Raw during the Trish/Dudleys angle. I wonder if they will offer an on-air explanation of why Trish is no longer dating Jeff, or, like the Maven/Torrie relationship, they will just pretend it never happened.
The NWA wants him. He could work just part-time for them, so he may be interested. Or, he may just decide to concentrate on his band. He hasn't been happy with the WWE for awhile, so this is probably for the best.

That's a tricky one. Just from the tone of the wwe.com blurb, I'd say they wouldn't say another word about him. However, because he is so popular with his fans, they might have to address it somehow.
It becomes extra delicate, since they'll still want to promote Matt's book, without talking about Jeff. Hey, maybe the paperback version will have an extra chapter talking about it. That would surely boost sales!
For once, there's a good editorial on the Torch about why the Kane storyline is so terrible--not just of itself, but destructive to the suspension of disbelief necessary for wrestling storylines. I couldn't agree more. http://www.pwtorch.
