Due to the actions of the Revs. Al and Jesse instead of Imus' tired act taking up morning drive on FAN I get at least a few weeks of Mike and the Mad Dog in the morning and afternoon, with the bonus that the morning show will be picked up on a local station so I don't have to worry about losing the signal? Thanks Al and Jesse. Now, go after Stuart Scott.
'Ric Flair wishes he was Paul Roma.' Congratulations Paul on winning the Idiotic Comment of the Decade Award.
You'll be lucky if Al and Jesse don't force FAN to replace Imus with Stuart Scott.
Mike and the Mad Dog reluctantly agreed to take over the morning in the short term and do 7-8 hours of radio a day. This was due to the same spineless advertisers growing a pair and demanding that Imus slot be filled by another draw at least as big. (These advertisers are still vulnerable to a boycott as Amex and Staples can be easily replaced by Visa and Office Depot.) It seems that other than Mike and Dog and Imus, everyone else on WFAN is a distant 3rd.
This again makes me question the idea that Imus got bad ratings. Since MSNBC is a nothing station, those ratings don't mean anything unless the Hitler hailing Olberman is bringing them in. I don't know why Imus sucked in DC, but out of 61 markets he can't win them all. I'd think the advertisers were paying $15 mil. a year for something. Overall he had between 2.25 and 3.25 million listeners a week. This is only 25% of Rush's dittoheads, but still a sizeable number.
I'd like to remind that he did apologize and those who it was directed at accepted the apology.
The airwaves are considered a public resource. The government grants certain groups a monopoly on broadcasting over these frequencies (in a certain area), and is thus justified in imposing regulations upon those monopolies.
