I am a recovering MMORPG addict. I haven't played Everquest since November of 2001. Still, I am interested to know about EQ2.
Is anyone on the board getting this tomorrow?
I expect that half of our I.T. department will be out sick in the next few days playing this game. At one point, half of the department was on Everquest.
I know there have a been a number of MMORPG's since EQ, but it seems like there is more interest for this than there was for Worlds of Warcraft.
On a side note, the local Gamestop was giving away copies of Lineage the other day. I'm guessing that they don't expect to sell this game against EQ2, so they are trying to get people in to it for the recurring fee. I've thought about this for a while, and it seems like the initial game should be free if you have to pay a monthly fee - so I'm glad to see someone doing it.
Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.
Tried EQ for a month, hated it and never went back. Then the Sony thing with Star Wars: Galaxies mass bannings happened and I lost all faith in their support division being worthwhile.
City of Heroes was just too shallow for me. I was playing on a friend's account and was kinda shocked at the almost total lack of an in-game economy. Seemed more like a novelty than a suck-you-in MMORPG.
Then again, I'm a FFXI addict. Bought it for PS2 last May, haven't played much else in the way of video games since. Better environments, generally nice and capable people, and a tech support division that fixes problems in a day or 2. Dupes, hacks, and cheats are basically non-existant.
As for EQ2? It looks fun and all, but with Sony at the helm I really wouldn't trust them with a monthly fee.
Strong week, what with Web of Shadows being the most anticipated game of the year according to some commercial I saw (guess they forgot about GTA IV, Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Super Smash Bros.
