The United States Government considers marajuana an illegal drug. It's use should be treated the same as any other illegal drug because it IS an illegal drug.

Until the US smartens up, this is the case. =)

There may be a legal obligation on the part of whoever is doing the testing to report illegal drug use, especially with the history wrestler's have had with them (steroids or otherwise).

Sure, but it's a PR policy first and a wellness policy second, and marijuana use has a relatively negligible impact on both. Also, a fine is also a punishment for a crime?

I'm not a pot advocate in terms of anything except apathy and logic -- I would accept an argument against legalization on the grounds of its subculture being annoying -- but I think it'd be safer for wrestlers to use for pain and sleep than a policy-approved prescription for a controlled narcotic with a higher and more serious dependency/abuse risk.

Has to be fatter. How about that Martin guy from Tough Enough. "Hey Kofi it's me, your best friend by default Evan Bourne. mwa ha ha"

False. In California, you are allowed to possess and cultivate marijuana as long as you have a prescription. Marijuana is no more illegal than any other prescription drug.

CA ruled that local cops did not have to enforce federal drug laws, so the federal law is basically toothless. Regardless, my point was that "legal" and "illegal" tend to be a funny words not without their nuance.

What is the point of this argument? The WWE Wellness Policy is pretty clear on whether or not the company cares whether or not you can get away with tokin' (or synthatokin') in California. Since they do not, you should not, lest you suffer the consequences (be they fine OR suspension).

Wrong yourself. All these hippies and assholes here in California think they can pass laws that bypass federal laws, but they are wrong.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/06/california-marijuana-dispensaries-crackdown_n_999196.html

The US Government isn't gonna put up with this shit. Yeah, I said it's shit. There is one of these so called 'medical outlets' across the street from my shop. They have a huge 'security guy' standing outside wearing a halloween security guard costume you can buy at Target. He even carries a plastic billy club. There is a little Asian girl and a white dude who stand outside all day with little kids walking by. I say she's a little girl cause she can't be much older than 19 or 20, obviously hired her cause shes cute. Her and the white guy wear doctors scrubs like at the hospital. They use little megaphones to yell out "Get legal here!" all fucking day. The only people I ever see stopping there are teens and young folks who just wanna get high. It's a scam. Go there and say you get headaches or you have back pain and you somehow walk out 'legally' able to buy drugs. I say bullshit.

If the federal government ever finally allows it, I'd have no problem with it, but until that day comes, they need to get this shit away from heavily trafficked areas where little kids are around. I see little roaming gangs in the area ever since this place opened. I've lost business because these assholes are outside smoking that shit. It drives away good, honest tourists who don't want any part of it. It's bad for business. I've been told, along with some other business owners on the same block, to stop calling the police about it because they won't do anything about. This is bullshit.

Actually, calling the police for ANYTHING in Los Angeles is bullshit because they won't do anything. They have let shoplifters go because they didn't see the crime being committed, I've complained about two different homeless guys who sit on the sidewalk and masturbate in broad daylight and they wouldn't arrest them because they'll be let go almost immediately after booking them in jail, for fucks sake, Lindsay Lohan commits grand theft, kidnapping, and she bought crack numerous times ON CAMERA and that bitch still isn't in prison. The LAPD is a fucking disgrace to law enforcement. It's fucking disgusting. It almost makes me wanna move back to Florida.

And just FTR - potheads annoy the hell of me, too - I just don't think they should goto jail for it. I would not be suspended for a Wellness Policy violation.

I was under the impression that the point of the WWE Wellness policy - aside from public relations - was to protect workers from drugs (e.g. performances enhancers and painkillers) that actually could have long term side effects. You know - drugs that were actually killing people or shortening their life spans.

It seems counter-productive to suspend a performer for occasionally tokin' when there is an implication by the suspension that he/she was abusing something a little more notorious. If you want to have an effective policy, don't base it on current arbitrary drug laws.

Edit: I guess I will yield this point - which I guess is the point YOU were trying to make - if you know it's against the rules and will get you suspended then you shouldn't do it. Even if the rules are stupid.

Do I REALLY have to tell you that dispensaries CLEARLY don't fall under "personal possession and cultivation"?

There is no other reason because public relations. No reason that comes close. The Wellness Policy is the same as the Hall of Fame.

So, if marijuana is now a suspension and thus a strike on the drug policy, does that eliminate any possibility of Rob Van Dam ever working up there again?

I ain't gonna make a habit out of this, but I want to apologize for my little rant there. I've been slowly losing money because of that place across the street from me and when I see crime on the rise in the area also because of it and at every turn I get told there's nothing the police will do about it... you know, it isn't right.

Anyway, sorry, I'm done in here.

Marijuana is a fine; synthetic marijuana is a suspension.
