I'll miss Eugene. I think the WWE played him perfect by having him a part-time TV role with special angles and no feuds. Maybe something in the background that we don't know happened.

The over/under for Nick Dinsmore appearing in a TNA ring and cutting a promo saying "They turned me into a RETARD!!!" is currently at 2 months.
What's the over-under on TNA horribly misusing him a la the Bashams and him fading into obscurity? Three months?
Also, Dinsmore came up with the Eugene character himself.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
It's a shame he never had a blood feud with Regal and that he could never break into a new character. He's deceant in the ring and has a nice oldschool look.

TNA misused the Bashams? THey were in TNA for all of a month!
Good luck, Eugene. You deserved better than being enhancement talent.
I've seen 14 movies so far this year: Because I Said So - (2*); Borat - (5*); Children Of Men - (4*); Die Hard 4 - (5*); Evan Almighty - (3.5*); Fantastic Four 2 - (4.5*); Hairspray - (5*); Harry Potter 5 - (4*); Knocked Up - (4*); The Last Mimsy - (4*); Mr. Brooks - (4*); Shrek The Third - (3*); Spiderman 3 - (3.5*); Transformers - (2*)
Wasn't he suspended last year for some kind of Wellness violation?
Yea. Given what's been going on this weekend, it seems likely to be related. At they very least, WWE wouldn't seem to be cutting roster depth at this point unless they felt they had to.

The Bashams were brought in as Christy's hot new team, then jobbed repeatedly to VKM, then were fired. That's pretty much a textbook example of misused talent, given all the talk before their debut was "oh, I hope they get given a fair shake, unlike that two-year, two-tag-title run in WWE!".
And Eugene had a pretty good run, more than most OVW alumni. For six to eight months he was the hottest act in the company, got to work many main events, and was in one of the heaviest-promoted matches at SummerSlam '04. Then he settled into a nice pop-the-crowd Godfatheresque role for the last coupla years. Considering the fates of Rob Conway, Brent Albright, Idol Stevens, the Highlanders, Matt Morgan and the aforementioend Bashams, he did pretty well. A lot better than plain ol' Nick Dinsmore would've done, anyway.

That gimmick had a 3 month shelf life and WWE milked it for 3 years. He is quite talented, and should do well on the indie circuit where wrestling skill is more of an emphasis. After watching some of his stuff in OVW recently from about 5-6 years ago, he could stand to drop about 20 pounds, though.
Find Conway, and reform Lords of the Ring. And then job them to Road Dogg and Billy. I kid, I kid.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you... Add Cryme Tyme to the list, for what seems to be a stupid reason on the surface, at least.
World Wrestling Entertainment released Raw tag team Cryme Time, Shad Gaspard and JTG, this afternoon.
I haven't heard particulars yet but do know there was an incident this weekend involving Cryme Time and WWE Tag Team champions Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch that took place on the Raw house show in Terra Haute, Indiana yesterday. WWE Management was dealing with the incident via telephone from yesterday's TV Taping in Cincinnati and made the decision to release the pair at the Raw tapings this afternoon. Given the timing of the release, I'd say this is likely not a Wellness Policy issue but something stemming from the Indiana incident.
Cryme Time were brought up to the Raw roster in September 2006 after spending time working together in Ohio Valley Wrestling. WWE.com has not yet officially announced the release.
So they screw up once and get fired. Meanwhile dumbfucks like Randy Orton are allowed to screw up four times and still keep their jobs. Sad...
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; June 18, 2006) While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.
COnsidering you have no idea what said incident involved, it'd probably be wise to hold onto any inane bitching for now. Given that Cryme Tyme we due a renewed push this fall and wer ein the middle of a tag title feud, this had to be fairly serious.

Fairly serious is right. Randy Orton caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to that hotel room in Europe just because he felt like it and only ended up with a suspension. Obviously Cryme Time aren't at the same level as Orton but it must have been pretty bad to be flat out released over it.

I absolutely don't deny any of this, and it disappointed me as well -- but according to reports, Damaja no-showed one or more events and was canned for that. Basham, I guess, was collateral damage.
As for Eugene, I always appreciated that he wrestled in character. Beyond that, I'm ambivalent, but on the other hand I've never seen "Nick Dinsmore" wrestle, if you see what I mean.

No, that's a misuse of money. Why throw away money on two guys fired from your competitor when you can save that money and let someone you already have under contract get that TV time and earn the money they are already getting.
