Last week, ESPN2's The Bottom Line (scores and sports news on the bottom of the screen) changed for no apparent reason. It used to be fast, and not take that much time. Now it takes about 10 minutes to do all the scores.

Also, those Women's NCAA Tournament Commercials SUCK.

I hate the new Bottomline - it's a lot tougher read on my 13" TV at 4am when I'm working out - i also hate all the baseball scores - they take ffffoooorrrreeeevvvveeeerrrr to run

Forgot to mention this earlier, but on last night's Sunday Night Baseball game between the A's and the Angels, you could hardly see the score on the top of the screen.

I wanted to give it a few days before I commented on it, but I completely agree that the new Bottom Line is a joke. Where as before you knew the rotation things would go it: transactions then scores, now they throw them all in together, while throwing stats in to completely slow it down. The old system wasn't broken, so why fix it?

The only positive I see is that they tell you which results are coming up. (AL, NL, NCAA, etc.) Otherwise, it really doesn't do much for me. I'll take the ESPNEWS ticker over that.

That friggin ESPNEWS ticker takes up half of the damn TV. When it gets to that point, you should just do one or the other - a news show, or a ticker show.

I think it's okay... readable on my 19" (which is the smallest one we've got). I actually like the progress indicator... you know, the bar that shows how much is left.

I love the scene with the blond Tennessee spinning around with her hair glowing in the sunlight. I mean, if any guy EVER did a spot like that, they'd be ridiculed for months. And it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the clips. But it looks really nice and since I don't know this person as an athlete, it doesn't diminish what I think about her.*

(Now the UConn Coach as Cowboy is the worse by far.)

Anyway, did anyone mention that this was part of their big ESPNHD rollout and premired on the SportsCenter after the opening game? Because there you go. I'm sure it looks great on HD but for us living in the real world...

Obviously, it's ESPNewsTicker v2.0. I guess ESPN3 will get green?

While there have been plenty of times where you've just caught the game info but not the score and have to wait for it to cycle around again, I think I minded that less than the longer it takes to get through the list that they seem to have now. Because the mini-score takes up a part of a bar, that means the info we're getting either takes up another slide (making it the whole rotation that much longer) or we get less of it. What I really want more than anything is it just to speed around more - the faster it goes, the sooner it gets to the little bits of info I actually care about.

It seems like we're getting less information, and it's a way to insert another ad ("ticker brought to by") as a fixture, which are my two no-nos to me.

I'll give it time because they'll probably fine tune it, but there are so many other ways to get scores it's not a big deal with me.

* - I think what I said up there is "if you try to market your looks, I'm gonna automatically lose respect for your atheltic abilites" which is odd but I'm really losing focus on this thread so I'm going to leave it be.

Yeah, who was that? I'm tempted to say Brittany Jackson... she did look pretty damn good, you have to admit.

Actually, I thought it premiered during the game. (shrug)

Mmm... I don't see how they could squeeze more ad space on there, though. Maybe I don't mind it as much because I'm sitting so close to the TV.

The Score in Canada has the best ticker I've seen, has had it for a while. It's on the bottom of the screen and 4/5 of it is a normal ticker with scores, info and news but the other fifth of it has a little box with rapid scores flipping by

For an example of the ticker along with the very tasty Martine

You ought to see her in her tight workout clothes getting exercise tips from Trish who was also in her tight workout clothes, while filming a getting fit segment from a gym Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from that day

You know what? Now that I think abou it, the 28/58 version debuted during the game (so you were right) and that's where they stuck that extra ad that bugged me - though I think sometimes they wedged it in on the old 28/58 format too.

The Score ticker looks nice.
