From the new ESPNNetworks.com site itself:

Now you can watch ESPN online all day, every day. Watch your favorite shows live, including SportsCenter and PTI along with Monday Night Football and much more.

This service is available to Time Warner Cable customers who receive ESPN as part of their television subscription.

Although the site says you need to be a Time Warner customer the front page seems to suggest Bright House Cable (whatever that is, never heard of it myself) customers are also invited. And I'm sure over the next few months some other cable companies' customers will get the privilege too.

As someone who is in the midst of weighing various television options (DirecTV, IP-based services like Hulu Plus and Netflix, etc.), this is absolutely HUGE news to me. I currently have Time Warner for internet but not for television. According to the site I shouldn't have access to espnnetworks.com OR espn3.com, but I've been able to watch both with no problems whatsoever. Access to live ESPN and ESPN2 programming is the one thing stopping me from cutting ties from traditional TV service. This site doesn't cover ESPN2 but regardless I'm on the brink of making the jump.

Wow, prior to this comment, I had kind of assumed Bright House was all over. It's one of the 10 biggest cable companies in the country. But this description from Wikipedia makes clear why someone in Georgia might not have heard of it:

Bright House Networks is a cable television company, the seventh largest cable (video) operator and the sixth largest traditional multiple system operator in the United States owned by Advance/Newhouse, headquartered in Syracuse, New York. The company provides service to cities including Indianapolis, Central Florida (Orlando/Daytona Beach areas), Tampa Bay area, Lakeland, Birmingham-Hoover area, west suburban Detroit, and Bakersfield. Most of its business is concentrated in Central Florida, where Bright House is the dominant cable system in the Tampa and Orlando TV markets.

Bright House just last week finally got access to ESPN3.com for its subscribers, and it is fantastic.

I've got Charter, and I can't watch online. That's odd, because I can watch ESPN3.com.

I imagine there's a few extra bucks in this for the mothership, but I think ESPN is getting something like $4.08/household/month now from cable subscribers, as soon as they notice their subscriber revenue taking a hit, this certainly will be addressed.

Someone else is going to have to speak on how quickly this trend may start seriously impacting the cable TV industry, and whether there will ever be enough broadband/fiber optic/whatever capacity to allow people to choose programming a-la-carte over the internet.

These episodes continue to blow me away. I lost count of the number of things they were parodying in this episode. First McGuirk, now Brendon. I am loving the "Home Movies" actor cameos. "IGNORE ME!!!!"
