What a squandered opportunity Bischoff's opening promo was. So much he could have said, could have done -- talked about what life has been like the last couple of years, about why he would come back, about what he would accomplish -- sure, it would have been a work, but at least it would have been a little more interesting. We're past the point now where acknowledging the past is out of the ordinary, or even interesting.

The other main problem is that you still have the same framework here -- wrestlers going to McMahon (now played by Bischoff), asking for matches, the heels kissing his ass, the faces having staredowns with him. I know it's only been a matter of minutes since he arrived, but so far it's the exact same damn thing.

No, it is all work. Eric in his speech was pointing to all the mistakes that helped ran WCW down: announcing on Nitro that Mankind won the title on Raw, hiring the stars and all but admitting to have misused them, then trying to kiss up to HHH and UT, two of many then new guys he lost to WWF. He also eulogized nWo after Vince buried it at the beginning of teh show.

You know what? That was pretty cool. Bischoff was very entertaining. And I used to hate Bischoff. As an on-air personality, I mean.

Further proof I'm a total WWE mark.

I think the ending of RAW showed the point of Bischoff's big promo earlier. Bischoff was establishing his style, sort of giving a past history of his character (which also happens to be real life), to show that he's Mr. "Ruthless Aggression" and that he's all about competition. I think Bischoff's been introduced to make the Brand Extension into a real competition, with Bischoff trying to raid talent from Smackdown just like he did from the old WWF. I think whoever is appointed GM of Smackdown is going to have to be someone who can give as good as he gets, and meet Bischoff on his own terms.

Of course, I can't -think- of anyone who fits that description off hand, but there's gotta be somebody other than Steffie, Shane-O, or Foley...although Foley sure hates Bischoff, and would be a good choice.

After watching Bischoff in the backstage segments, it occured to me that it doesn't matter that Bischoff is back on television, because no matter who the face is, the setup is all the same.

Imagine the Big Show segment, except replace Bischoff with: Nash, Hogan, Hall, Flair, Shane, Steph, David Arquette, Gene Simmons, the guy in the Quizno's commercials, or my ex-girlfriend Angela. Stick in the dialogue, and it still makes sense.

Imagine the "Calling the Rock" segment, except replace Bischoff with: Nash, Hogan, Hall, Flair, Shane, Steph, David Arquette, Gene Simmons, the guy in the Quizno's commercials, or my ex-girlfriend Angela. Stick in the dialogue, and it still makes sense.

The point being, it doesn't matter who Vince brings in to try and spike the ratings. If they're all conforming to the same old bullshit, what the fuck does it matter?

There's your problem with WWE right there.

The Smackdown GM will be a "good guy" who will intervene when Easy E shows up to try to take the Rock.

When Shane-O said that the guy was a parasite, I was wondering if it could be Eric-he seemed to be the only one to fit the mold. Flair must be wondering what he has to do to get away from that guy.

Yup, Bischoff brings not only Ruthless Aggression, but HUSKY EVIL~!
Frankly, though, he looked pretty damn happy to be there. It may be part of his character, but I bet that big smile on his face was genuine.

After reading some of the news threads today and yesterday, I was SO afraid the GM would be Dusty Rhodes. But Bischoff? I don't know if that's much better, because WWF fans (including myself) have been trained for nearly a generation that Bischoff is Satan. We'll see how THIS turns out.

This is probably the most desperate move Vince McMahon has ever made. If it turns out that Bischoff was just signed to be a mouthpiece/GM, I'll be ok with that. But if he has ANY backstage power whatsoever, the smarks will come out with torches.

I feel so sorry for Ric Flair. He must have thought he had gotten rid of Bischoff forever.

And that's the bottom line, because it's false! It's DAMN false!

Easy-E showing up on Raw should have been a mark-out moment. His promo was cool and the build up for SmackDown's GM announcement will goad me into catching the show. The problem is that this has all been done before. And that's why there was no marking out on my couch.

I give it 3 months.

I just want Vince to announce over the OvalTron that the new GM for Smackdown will be coming to the ring...now.

Then the lights go out.

And when they come out, there's Vince in the ring, with a big grin on his face, saying: "It was me, Austin!!!! It was me all along!!!! I'm the new GM!"

Why's he talking to Austin? 'Cause that'd make this funnier.

And tell me if that happened that you wouldn't laugh your friggin' ass off.

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!

I coulda told you before it happened, and the live crowd reaction abundantly confirms it...

No one cares about what Tony Schiavone spoiled six years ago.
No one cares about who invented the nWo.
No one cares about Ted Turner.
No one cares about Medusa.
No one cares about how many weeks Nitro beat Raw.
No one, at this point, cares about Nitro.
Or WCW.
NO ONE FUCKING CARES ABOUT ERIC BISCHOFF!!!

Okay, you and I might care, and obviously Vince McMahon cares, but 99% of the fans in the arena don't care. This is fucking retarded. The WWE doesn't understand what its own audience wants or is interested in.

I certainly thought it was a sign of the apocalypse when Bischoff and Vince had that big, big hug. Absolutely insane. Who could have ever imagined we'd have McMahon, Bischoff and Heyman all in the same building someday? Hell, they were probably all in the same -room- at some point backstage. It's just kind of creepy...

I just realized why Bischoff is so confident he's going to get HHH and Rock on RAW...

...he's going to take them to the Gold Club in Atlanta.

Someone is going to have to scrape my brains off my living room walls. That hug was... GOOD LORD.

Zorak: That's some great hair.
Karl: Thanks, it's not real.
