Let's get to it...

---MOVIES---

Transformers WILL be on our movie screens in LIVE ACTION GLORY in the summer of 2006. Steven Spielberg is producing with Robert (Mutha-fuckin') Zemekis directing. This is the coolest news to come around in MONTHS!

Superman: Jim Caviezel has been telling interviewers this past weekend that he expects his next role to have him "...working out a lot and wearing blue tights and a red cape." Interesting choice of words coming from a guy who didn't embarass himself by playing Jesus.

Spider-Man 3: Sam Raimi got upset during a recent interview on Austrialian television when an interviewer remarked that the next films villian was ...displayed in front of my eyes in plain 'Black and White'." Earlier in the show, Raimi also mentioned that he'd love to see Elisha Dushku wearing tight leather for one of his future projects. I think we can all put two and two togetjer on this one.

New Line Cinema has DEATH: The High Cost Of Living on the fast track for a winter 2005 release. Neil Gaiman wrote the script AND he's directing the film.

Ron Howard will be directing a remake of the classic EAST OF EDEN after he ruins ANOTHER book first in directing a film version of The DaVinci Code.

Do you want to know why Leatherface became 'Leatherface' Well you're damn sure gonna find out next year when the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake's 'prequel' comes out. Andrew Bryniarski will return as Leatherface. I don't care what ANY of you say, I really liked the remake ALMOST as much as the original.

Steve Carell of The Daily Show and NBC's bastardized version of The Office will take over the roll of Maxwell Smart for the big screen adaptation of GET SMART.

Doug Richardson, the man responsible for Die Hard 2, Bad Boys, Money Train, and... err, Welcome To Mooseport!... is now writing Die Hard 4.

20th Century Fox has obtained the rights to COURTNEY CRUMRIN from Oni Press. If you don't know who or what Courtney Crumrin is, go google her, this COULD be cool with the right director. Effects master Stan Winston was behind the whole deal!

Michael Keaton has signed on for Disneys VW Bug loving revival of HERBIE THE LOVEBUG. The film will also star Lindsay Lohan.

Stephen Sommers is being asked by Universal Studios to quit looking at other films to make and get his butt working on the MUMMY 3. At the moment, he's hoping to take over directing PRINCESS OF MARS, the first book in the John Carter series by Edgar Rice Burroughs, since Robert Rodriguez backed out.

---TELEVISION---

The Boondocks, by Aaron Mcgruder is being turned into an animated series for Adult Swim. Expect episodes to start up late next year,

We already know that Kiefer Sutherland will se the only regular cast member returning for the new season of 24, but what ELSE will be going on you ask? Senator John Keeler will have won the presidency and Jack Bauer will no longer be working for the CTU. In other 24 news of sorts, Reiko Aylesworth, who played Michelle, is joining the cast of CSI.

NBC has a soon to be hit on it's hand with HERCULES. A four hour mini-series starring Sean Astin, Lelee Sobieski, Angie Harmon, Timothy Dalton, and British actor Paul Tefter as Hercules. Look for it next May.

Wonderfalls is STILL cancelled! (I'll NEVER get tired of this joke...)

Heather Graham joins the cast of SCRUBS this season for 8 to 10 episodes as a highly professional, competent shrink with the worst possible personal life they can come up with.

Al Franken returns to television next month when the Sundance Channel begins airing his radio show daily.

Justice League Unlimited will feature episodes written by J.M. DeMatteis, Darwyn Cooke, Ron Zimmerman, Warren Ellis and Gail Simone. Comic geeks EVERYWHERE are blowing loads in their pants upon hearing this news.

---MUSIC---

Which of these groups do not belong on this list together...
Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Lacuna Coil, A Perfect Circle, Rammstein, DevilDriver, Cradle Of Filth, CKY, Deftones, The Cure, H.I.M., Demon Hunter, The Used, Thrice, 36 Crazyfists, Cold, Rob Zombie, Massive Attack...
NONE of them! They are all featured on the upcoming RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE soundtrack. The Deftones it seems are possibly doing a cover of DURAN DURAN's The Chauffeur for the film?

---COMICS---

Peter David may or may not be returning to write The Incredible Hulk, depending on what sites you go to. I'm thinking he'll be returning around January.

Did you know Marvel Entertainment was working on a broadway musical take on Spider-Man? Did you know Bono and The Edge (U2) are writing the musical score for it? Well NOW you do! The Edge is also doing all the music for the new Batman animated series.

George Romero is writing a six issue mini series for DC titled Toe Tags. YES it's a horror anthology.

Warren Ellis will be writing a Ghost Rider series next year.

Howard the Duck will be appearing in the She-Hulk series an a couple months... IF it doesn't get cancelled after the current story line.

Speaking of cancelled, Thanos, Mystique, Mary Jane, Silver Surfer, Elektra, and Weapon X are all cancelled, yet SOMEHOW Runaways somehow is returning.

---

Later!

Well, let's see the top selling ongoings (figures from Diamond Comics for June 2004):
1. Superman [DC]
2. Astonishing X-Men [Marvel]
3. Ultimate Spider-Man [Marvel]
4. Ultimate Fantastic Four [Marvel]
5. Uncanny X-Men [Marvel]
6. X-Men [Marvel]
7. Ultimate X-Men [Marvel]
8. Amazing Spider-Man [Marvel]
9. Marvel Knights Spider-Man [Marvel]
10. JLA [DC]

Cancelled titles and their spots on the Diamond Top 300:
Mary Jane [77th], Mystique [82nd], Weapon X [90th], Silver Surfer [106th], while Runaways [123rd] survives. I can't find Thanos or Elektra, so either they really have shitty sales or they weren't released.

Stephen Sommers isn't doing Princess of Mars. In fact latest word is that Kerry Konran, director of SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW, is set to direct Princess of mars. This is of course according to comingsoon.net

And really cerebus, you should cite some of this information. I mean where did you hear that Steven Spielberg is producing transformers and Zemeckis is directing it? While that sounds really awesome, it sounds to good to be true as well. I'm not trying to doubt you or anything...but a link or something would be nice y'know?

Has he directed aything else before? Based on the source material alone, however, this one should be pretty awesome. Maybe they can get Bachalo to do a poster for it or something?

You can't find Thanos on the list because they didn't release an issue in June. The reason it's being cancelled is because the writer had a falling out with Marvel, and that's why the book had been delayed for at least the last month. Too bad, too, because like I said in another thread, it's been my favorite book recently.

I know that I loved Herbie the Lovebug movies as a child, but I can't fathom them making a good remake of the movie today, even with Batman and "Now Legal" Lohan. Then again, Garfield was a modest hit, so it will probably make money.

Joe Wilson (looking at Interocitor manual)- Hey, here's something my wife could use in the house...
Crow T. Robot- A man?
Joe Wilson- An interocitor incorporating an electron sorter.
Cal Meechum- Oh, she'd probably gain 20 pounds while it did all the work for her.
Tom Servo- Cal, you bitch!

TCM Prequel, Die hard 4, Mummy 3!!! This is sweet. TCM was the greatest remake ever. The original was the greatest horror movie ever I can't wait. Does anyone know when it's coming out.

Blue tights and a red cape? That's right, it's Jim Caviezel starring as Quasar!

Seriousl, just about the ONLY mainstream actors who could pull off Superman would be Caviezel or Clive Owen in an American accent. Just the fact that JC is involved makes me happier about Singer joining the project. And really, what is Superman but a Christ parable anyway?

Speaking of Supes, he has the top-selling book of last month? Odd. I'm also kinda surprised not to see any Bat-titles in that list. Just be glad that no matter what books are being canceled, Spider-Girl is still hanging on, so we have that to be thankful for.

Sam Raimi has started that he's not a fan of Venom, so if Mr. V is to appear in the Spidey movies, it won't be until after Raimi leaves after Spidey 3. The interviewer must not know that John Jameson/Venom are only connected in the cartoons, and not the comic continuity. Aside from the bizarre "Banner's dad is Absorbing Man" finale of the Hulk, Marvel movies are generally relatively good about keeping their continuity straight. Eliza Dushku as Black Cat could work, though between Michelle Pfeiffer and the recent Halle Berry debacle, haven't we seen enough hot women in tight leather catsuits?

Every man in the world: "NO."

Oh. Well, never mind then. Unless I'm just jumping to conclusions and forgetting another really obvious female Spidey villain. Or, unless Raimi would just like to film Eliza Dushku in leather, and what red-blooded chap wouldn't nod his head to that?

I'm torn on the NBC version of the Office, since while I love Steve Carell, I can't believe that the Americanized version could possibly compare to the BBC original. Aside from All in the Family and a couple of the game shows, British shows NEVER translate well to America (i.e. Coupling, John Larroquette as Basil Fawlty, and many more). Steve Carell in Get Smart, however, I can get behind.

Love Bug was a childhood favourite of mine, so I'm kind of curious to see where this will go. Lindsey Lohan is purty and I like Michael Keaton, though he makes some weird choices. To quote Bill Simmons, "Keaton and Tom Hanks were about even until 1993, and then it just hasn't even been a contest."

It's weird....I'm a big U2 fan and a big Spider-Man fan, and yet I'm really, really wary about this Broadway musical news. There was also a rumour about a U2 song being on the Spidey 2 soundtrack, however, and that went to pot, so maybe this is just nonsense as well.

This came out of the SDCC, I believe. It came down to Dreamworks and New Line getting the rights, and apparently Spielberg himself flew to Rhode Island (home of Hasbro) to convince the suits to give it to Dreamworks. I had also heard Zemekis was attached to direct.

A good majority of the stuff I put here came from the big Comic-Con last week. It's been reported by Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Tonight, and other large outlets about the Transformers movie. I read myself in Daily Variety last Wednesday, then scoured the net for other such articles.

The Neil Gaiman directing DEATH was not only announced last week at the con, but has also been mentioned on Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition this past week during stories of other comic book/geek movies coming to the big screen, ones I hadn't mentioned that were all announced during the convention are a Gaiman written BOOKS OF MAGIC, A live action remake of THE LAST UNICORN with Christopher Lee, Mia Farrow, and Rene Auberjonois, The PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN sequel with Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom starts filming in September, A Live Action EVANGELION film, Roland Emmerich announced he's directing a live action DRAGONBALL Z film, RED DWARF: The Movie which begins filming in November, KEvin Smith announced he finished his GREEN HORNET script and is talking to two different directors about doing it for a fall 2005 release, The DUNGEONS & DRAGONS sequel which has been filming since March and should be out early next year, and lastly, which is kind of a surprise, TREKKIES 2 which should be out pretty soon.

The comic book writer stuff can be found on various sites such as Comicbookresources.com and the Marvel and DC web sites.

The Tara Reid being on Scrubs was first heard when Entertainment Tonight broke the story 2 weeks ago and NBC.com had a blurb about it over the weekend. The Hercules stuff was also there.

Keifer Sutherland gave the spoilers for 24 to TV Guide Television during an interview showing all this month.

The Boondocks Adult Swim show story can be found on the Cartoon Network web site.

I just did a little research and Zemekis is NOT directing. (That was apparently an AICN rumor.) Don Murphy (producer), on his website, basically said that Harry's smoking something. Spielberg is a "long shot" to direct. He's looking at somebody like Jonathan Mostow or Roland Emmerich to direct.

God, not Roland, it'll be a huge special effects circle jerk without any of the heart of the Transformers. He'll probably let the Decepticons win, I hate him. I am not shocked by the Batman drop. Bats has lost some shine since Hush came and went and the 100 bullets guys dropped the ball. 100 Bullets maybe a great book, but its not a Batman book. However, Gang War is going to take over much of the fall, so I expect at least one or two issues to go back to the top ten. I guess there won't be any news about Buffy till Joss and Amber make their Wizard Con apperance next week. I am holding out hope for Willow the series starring Xander, Spike, Gunn, Andrew and Illyria. Its a pipe dream, I know, but a good dream.

Ok. Now I know no announcement has been made about a director for DBZ. Is there even a script yet? All I heard a couple months ago that a guy named Ted(?) Ramsey was writing one...or was it Ben Ramsey?

I really think a live action DBZ movie is bad fucking news.

Two things I heard:

Superman- What happened to Nick Cage starring in the movie? Was he up for the tirle role, or a bad guy?

Goonies 2- Last year I read this was a serious project. It was either going to be a straight to DVD or cable network release (very slim chance of being in theaters) starring most of the original cast. Has it been scraped?
