http://www.hitfix.com/articles/2010-7-8-2010-emmy-nominations-a-complete-list?m=p

This has to feel like a pretty great day for Friday Night Lights fans, as Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler both (finally) get long overdue acting nominations.

Disappointments....

* Community got straight-up jobbed all-around. Joel McHale didn't get nominated for comedy lead? Seriously? He gets snubbed and yesterday's news Tony Shalhoub and that stiff from Glee both got in? For shame. And Alison Brie didn't get even get in for supporting actress either.

* I'm delighted to see the Stonestreet/Ferguson comedy duo from Modern Family both get supporting actor nominations (plus Ty Burrell), but again, Supporting Actor in a Comedy is so deep that there are bound to be omissions. Some other stiff from Glee, Jon Cryer and NPH on a down year shouldn't omit Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt, Ted Danson or any of the Community guys.

* Was hoping that Dean Norris or Bob Odenkirk would also make the supporting drama list for Breaking Bad, but overall that's a pretty strong field of six anyway. Still not sure why John Lithgow's work on 'Dexter' was considered to be a guest role since he was in the main credits all season and featured in every episode.

Although I don't think he'll win, I'm very happy to see Kyle Chandler get recognition for the fantastic work he does on Friday Night Lights ...

And I'd be happy with Terry O'Quinn & Michael Emerson just sharing the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama.

Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn might end up canceling each other out for their Supporting Actor in a Drama Emmy, but I'm glad Matthew Fox got a Best Lead Actor in a Drama nomination. He was also outstanding in this final season of Lost, especially in the finale. Elizabeth Mitchell got nominated for her guest appearance in the Lost finale too (WHAT? Nothing for V? Shocking). I'm just glad for all the Lost love.

Friday Night Lights' lead actor recognition is well deserved. I personally think season 4 is on a par with season 1 as the best of the series, and it may even be the best season of the series when it's all said and done.

Congrats to Conan O'Brien for his nomination for his Tonight Show. Nothing for Leno.

Having just started watching Breaking Bad, I think it should probably win everything, even categories it's not nominated for. It's just that great.

I'd have loved some recognition for Community and Parks and Recreation**, but you can't have everything.

** Oops. Amy Poehler got a Lead Actress nod for Parks and Rec. My bad. And hooray!

I like Conan as much as the next fanboy, but it sure looks like Craig Ferguson got screwed by all those Tonight Show nominations.

I also think it's funny that South Park's "201" got nominated as Comedy Central worked so hard to make sure I couldn't watch it. AH, POLITICS

I like True Blood, it's a nice little escape piece to kill an hour before bed on Sunday nights, and being on HBO, there is copious nudity, both female, and male, so you're set whatever your preference is.

That said, there is no way in hell they deserved a best drama nomination. It won't win anyway, going up against Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Dexter, and Lost (and The Good Wife, just for the sake of completeness), but even getting a nomination is a stretch.

Parks & Rec also got a nod for its theme song!

Thoughts from a quick glance at the noms:

-True Blood should be up for Best Comedy, just for the last scene from its most recent episode alone.

-I like everybody in the Comedy Supporting Actor Category, expect for Jon Cryer. This all but assures he will win and I will punch a hole in a wall.

-Mike O'Malley has to, I repeat, HAS TO win for his guest spot on Glee. He was that good.

-How much does it suck to have Joel McHale read the nominations, none of which went to Community? (Hint: It sucks a lot.)

-Betty White is a lock to win Guest Comedy Actress.

True that. He's the funniest guy on late night as far as I'm concerned, and the Bishop Tutu interview should give him some extra prestige as well.

Even more screwed (although not a surprise): John Noble of Fringe. He's just fantastic on that show. While I do like seeing Andre Braugher in that category--Men of a Certain Age is a very, very good show--Noble's even better.

Utter Bullshit. Sons of Anarchy is the best show on TV right now and Gemma is the best character on the show. Also how the hell did the Good Wife get all of these nods anyway?

Glad to see some of my lesser watched favorites like Breaking Bad (I know it wins statues, but not enough people watch it or talk about it), Nurse Jackie, United States Of Tara, Friday Night Lights, Parks And Recreation, and Damages get some love. And good for Curb for proving it still has it this season.

Aw crap, you're right! I was totally rooting for John Noble this season to get a nomination...his work was amazing...there's my snub to be upset about this year.

I'm glad Chandler and Britton got nominated but how do you have a best lead actor candidate and a best lead actress candidate and not have a best drama candidate? Mad Men was the only other show with both.

I like Glee. It's a nice little show. A few Emmy nominations sure, but I don't get how it just dominates in Emmys when something like Friday Night Lights takes forever to get noticed and The Wire never gets noticed and Sons of Anarchy hasn't been noticed. Lynch and O'Malley deserve their nominations but the others? Not really.

I'm glad to see Burn Notice get a nomination in a main category although I would prefer it get a nomination for Drama, Lead actor or supporting actor. But I guess Sharon Gless is the most respected actor on the show and supporting actress is usually a weak category.

Most deserving Emmy though? Old Spice commercial

I do think Justified got shafted. It became one of our favorites this year after we recently finished the first season on DVR over the long holiday weekend. perhaps it debuted too late in the year to be eligible?

Sons of Anarchy did get hosed, but it's really not the kind of show Emmy voters watch. (Neither was The Wire.)

The Good Wife, however, is right up Emmy's alley. Both Baranski and Margulies are former Emmy winners, and Archie Panjabi's Kalinda is a spectacular character. Plus Alan Cumming's a Tony winner.

Was I the only one that marked out over the return of Jesus? It's great to see him back, as he was one of my favorite recurring characters.
