Looks like Emmitt is riding off into the sunset. And he'll be riding off with a star on his helmet.

Must have been the new Cardinals logo that did him in ...

Either that or he finally got some pride back.

I think you're an asshole. No, no, let me correct that, an immature asshole. Which is fine, except that you're marrying my daughter and I'm afraid that my grandchildren are gonna be little assholes.

I've known for some time, but now I'm officially ANCIENT.

He and I were born on the exact same day. I weep for our lost youth. Of course, he did a little more with his so maybe he's not weeping like I'm weeping for it . . .

If he doesn't decide to hang it up, where is he going to play? I can't think of a lot of teams that would want to sign a 35 year-old RB to a fat deal even if his name is Emmitt Smith.

He's on ESPNews right now giving a retirement press conference.

if, If, IF Rice and Favre also hang it up this offseason, that would be one helluva HOF class in 5 years.

Emmitt - All-time leading rusher
Rice - All-time leading receiver
Favre - All-time consecutive games played

Tim Brown would also be a strong possibility

Dont forget Deion Sanders, I think he really wants to go in with Jerry Rice. Plus Jerome Bettis.

The Bucs asked the 49ers for permission to talk to Steve Mariucci. If that doesn't pan out, maybe the Bucs can petition the WWF for the rights to talk to Coach John Tolos. BDC
