Do we have an authoritative confirmation yet that it is a torn Achilles, or is that still just a rumour? (Mostly I ask because, from my viewpoint, that wouldn't have been high on my list of likely injuries.) | yamcha

All fun aside, rumors all over the place indicate this to be true. Is it time for Christian to take over Edge's spot in the lime light? Me thinks this would be a great idea. What do I know?

I think it really makes a great story that a kid who watched Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania with a Hulk Rules T-Shirt got to grow up and be tag champs with the guy and pose in the ring with him.
Jeers to WWE for changing his yearbook caption from "Most Likely to become WWF Champion" to "Most likely to become WWE Champion". But it is not surprising. He has been very brittle over the last 7-8 years. Funny, there was plenty of bashing of Batista and Kennedy with their recent injuries, and that they should be fired for being injury prone. Why are there no comments about Edge being injury prone? Is it just a slow holiday weekend?

Edge's injuries are par for anyone at this level. Cena, HHH, etc. have all had their share of injuries in past that have kept them out of action.
Plus he's a proven superstar and not a one-trick pony like Kennedy (mic) or Batista (big muscles) so he has much higher value than someone getting a test run at being a main eventer. | Quezzy

As far as I know it was another unconfirmed rumor, but that hasn't stopped us so far, but my understanding was that the whole reason for Edge being in a tag team in the first place was he was too injured to work full matches.
Replacing him with Christian makes a lot of sense but I still believe Vince is going to let pretty much everybody on ECW become stars before Christian due to his size and leaving for TNA. The recent talent exchange is a pretty good indication of that.
I hope Edge makes a quick recovery and I actually hope his time off doesn't result in another book. Awful book. The only reason it isn't my least favorite so far is because I think the Hardyz wrote their book with crayons.

I would actually make him Gm or all WWE shows while he is hurt. Having him on RAW, ECW and Smackdown would be great. His mic work alone would keep him relevant until he is able to come back.
Life is hilariously cruel.

I disagree. If Christian wasn't given a push, he wouldn't have been booked to win the ECW championship.
It's the same reason he's still on ECW after the Talent Exchange - he's their champion.

He missed several months early in 2006 with a broken jaw, which limited him to an early exit from that year's MITB. Didn't he take off about 3-4 months after Undertaker "sent him to Hell" at Summerslam last year? I don't remember the details, other than he was healing up some nagging injuries.
I do think he is better than Batista, who I can take or leave. But Batista is not injured any more than Edge, and can bring it in big matches with the right opponents. I guess I just think people are hard on Big Dave, when others have some of the same injury problems along side him at the top of the card.

I don't think he missed any time with the broken jaw other than not wrestling on the last few weeks of TV before Wrestlemania.

I think that was partly storyline, partly to give him a break like an Undertaker or HHH vacation.
But Batista is not injured any more than Edge,
Batista had been on a blessed run of health up until this year, but the thing about his injuries is that they're always major setbacks. And he's worked through a lot of injuries too but that also causes him to hurt something else worse.
March '03: tore tricep in match with Dudleys, then re-tore it while jogging; came back in October '03
November '05: hurt his back taking a double chokeslam from Kane & Show, postponed surgery when Eddie died, then tore his tricep a month later against Mark Henry; came back in July '06
December '08: worked through a hamstring tear until he couldn't go anymore (WWE said it was torn in the SummerSlam match with Cena but I think that was just to make that match seem more epic); came back in April '09
June '09: rushed back early from the hamstring, tore bicep; out until November/December?
Mr. Kennedy makes Batista look like Cal Ripken because his injuries (or suspensions) always came at the worst possible time for him.
and can bring it in big matches with the right opponents. I guess I just think people are hard on Big Dave
I definitely agree with you there. I admit to being bored with him at times ("nice try. not impressed. I want a rematch.") but he doesn't get nearly enough credit for how hard he works and the number of good matches he's had ever since Wrestlemania 23. | monkaaman

(ETA: A couple of he pictures are really good. The captions, on the other hand, are pretty ... adjective-laden.)
