I have to admit i was a bit dissapointed by the eddie RVD match. It wasnt bad. Solid
but it could have been so much better better. Nice to see JR properly call the Dragon screw and the Gordi Special. (SIGH)

EDDY GUERRERO IS MY FAVORITE WRESTLER!!! YEAH HE IS!!!!!
It sounds like you were disappointed only because you had very high expectations. The funny thing is, Eddie felt the same way about the match. In an interview with wwf.com, he said that he was disappointed because he thought it was an OK match, but it could have been a lot better. He said that he thinks he and RVD have a lot better match in them after they work together a little more. It sounds like he's expecting to fued with RVD over the I-C title for quite a while, and for each match between them to be better and better. Sounds good to me.

What's disappointing is that they took the IC belt off of RVD too damned soon. They're hotshotting once again. RVD should have had a 3-month (minimum) reign with the belt. It seems as if they just decide to give whatever belt to the first guy that feuds with the champ right after winning it (Regal's last IC Title reign being a notable exception)
RVD should have had a lengthy reign, especially since he was a 1st time IC Champ. Not anywhere near the "Complete Waste of Time" title reign he had in ECW, but still, a nice reign to establish himself as a stable champ.
When was the last time someone held the WWF IC title over 3 months? It was probably Ken Shamrock in 98-99.
You`re right. Shamrock had it for 4 months and 2 days (10/12/98-2/14/99). Looking down this list, it seems like the IC title changes hands almost monthly. See for yourself.

In 2001, Jericho held the title for 72 days, no one held it longer in 2001. In 2000, Eddy held the title for 78 days I think. Eddy's first reign was the longest since Ken Shamrock's, but it notably sucked.

Moe, if you correct someone, tell them what it IS.. isn't it the Gory special?
And imo, if they continue the rvd-eddie feud they did the right thing. the face chasing the heel is alot better than the face ruling the heel.. Also, Eddie can run some circles around Rob on the mic and heh..maybe even get something out of RVD's mouth other than 'cool'..

I was not incorrect then. I got the spelling wrong. Big difference. But anyways, when was the last time anyone submitted from that?
I really do mark out for the dragon screw. Most underrated move in my opinion. Rock no longer does it right? I think i remember him almost breaking Benoit's leg once with it and i havent seen him do it since
The last time somebody submitted? I have no idea.. It's mostly a nice mark-out moment.. I remember a Jericho-Eddie match I saw in England a few years back where they exchanged Gorry specials and reversed Gorry specials.
Dragon screws are cool moves if done fast and furious. It really looks like it can rip your leg off.

RVD VS eddie guerrero was the besty match of the night! the battle of the frogsplashes was unmissable! you are aboustly not a true wrestling fan who enjoys the wwf! i loved that match!

Eddy Guerrero is one of the best wrestlers in the world. Rob Van Dam is a tumbler who kicks people. Eddy did what he could with what he had.
This is quite true - you can actually watch Eddy guide RVD through the match, and one spot is particularly notable. When Eddy grabs RVD's arm to do his rope walk rana, you can see Rob get lost and turn the wrong way. Eddy actually pushes Rob into position to take the move - very impressive recovery from what would have been a surely blown spot. It's the little things like these that help you determine who the truly great workers are.
I see what you mean sean. After reading your post, i pulled out the tape and sure enough saw the spot you mentioned. Quick note, just before that spot, a loud R V D chant broke out. Its as if eddie timed that spot just to stick to the fans. His taunt after the move was priceless!!!
Hey, I knew it would rule even if it dissapointed somebody. I watched both RVD in ECW when he was the TV champ and Eddie when he was having all those matches with Dean Malenko. I really miss seeing that mullet, and the only man who can wear it without getting laughed at. I's rather see Eddie's worst over Stone Cold's worst anyday.
Ringmistress, dont get me wrong. I didnt think it was a bad match, its just i was hoping for something truly classic, but then again they havent exactly been in the ring before ( maybe at house shows) Hell, this match i would consider just a notch below edge and angle in terms of quality. And to think think this might be considered a minor dissapointment for eddie while people are praising edge for his best match ever.
Eddie's dissapointment is almost equal to edge's greatest. Fucking hilarious.

For those that have already seen the spoilers.. Vince announces Rock vs Hogan at No Way Out.. Damn..in that case I guess the stuff about Rock being there for Hogan and then Goldberg might be true after all. Rock then did a promo (again via sattelite)
