I haven't posted a thread in a while, so here it goes--

Just finished watching SmackDown! a while ago and I have to say that Eddie Guerrero has been on top of his game! While Angle and the other four of the SD! six have been on top of it too, isn't it interesting that Guerrero's been booked to have major victories over the others as of late, as was brought up on the show? I mean, damn the guy's over! And he's just too damn entertaining, especially with his feigned fear of Rey Mysterio Jr. tonight.

IMHO, after WrestleMania, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Eddie got programmed against whoever the WWE Champion will be at that point. And not only would the feud be great, Guerrero would become champion, and have feuds with Edge, Brock, Rey-Rey, Benoit, and Angle. What do you think?

GO!

Hopefully before anyone can post negative thoughts on this idea, let me just say "Fuck you anti-smark smarks and your comments on who you think you will draw as a credible WWE champion!" This is the greatest idea ever, and I would consider following Smackdown around the country like a Deadhead in need of a Jerry fix.

Oh, what a wonderful world it would be were Eddy G. the champ. There would be nothing but love and harmony and good will towards all. If I could see Eddy every week on my tv cutting whacked out promos like the one he did to Rock this summer, I'd be the happiest little man on the earth.

Heelish small guys in the WWF have always won the title the same way. They cheated. Babyface small guys who won the title won it the same way. They overcame the odds and pinned some monster.

Guerrero as WWE Champ? Awesome. Cheating to win? Yes. People bitching that he's being booked to lose credibility by cheating, thus following in the footsteps of Flair? Priceless.

As long as he wins as a heel. Eddie is just so much better as a heel to me. Mind you, I can only judge his facework by his Mamacita period in WWE. Has he been good as a babyface in WCW or ECW? I imagine ekedolphin, our resident WCW mark , could fill me in.

I believe Eddie would be in the title picture right now if his feud with Steve Austin had gone down as planned. I still don't understand why Eddie got dropped from the main event picture like a bad habit as soon as Austin left.

Yes, Eddie as champ would be godly. I would attach dice to my rear-view mirror in homage to him.

I don't see it happening. Eddie is a great wrestler, very entertaining and No. 1 on nearly every smark-workrate list in the world. Still, I don't see it happening.

And on another note, am I the only one that thought his "great" promo on the Rock was pretty lame. I thought it was totally overdone and ... well, overdone is a good word I guess. I found it funny in an unintentional kinda way but I don't think EG was going for "funny" with this one.

It's OK if I am the only one who thought this, it wouldn't be the first time but I was just curious if anyone else felt the same way.

Salami, I think Eddy was totally going for the whacked-out funny thing that happened with that promo. He just strikes me as savvy enough to know how to do a heel interview that will strike a certain part of the fanbase as really kinda goofy and funny, while still getting wonderful heel heat from the crowd.

It would have helped Eddie's credibility if he wasn't coming off a squash type loss to Lesnar. That means the belt would have to bounce at least once before it gets to Eddie. I'd love to see Eddie get the belt, but I think the fed has to make sure that there is minimal possiblity that Eddie falls of the wagon again.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

I think Eddie did good aganist Brock. Eddie took his leg out, when Brock did the F5, or a big move, he sold his leg GREAT, he fell down after hitting a move or limped. Eddie with the belt would be golden though.

Why the hell not? Eddie can do it ALL! It would be so much fun, seeing Eddie doing that Latino Heat walk with Chavo and Chavo's pointing at the title, that would be GREAT!

Wasn't he also a face when he was clinging to the Hardys for a couple of weeks?

No, I'd call that a tweener role. i.e. "What's his real motive?" Tweener Eddie rules! I was so sad when his personal issues 86ed that angle, I was really curious where they were going with that. (Assuming they were going anywhere...)

Oh man, the more I think about this, the more I like it. A title win for Eddie would make for such a great comeback after he was let go.

I think that he's got the charisma and he's definitely got the wrestling ability to be a Savage/Ric Flair-like champ. Plus, it would be fresh, mainly because he's a small guy. And that's what they need right now.

Ignoring everything else, I think his relatively spotty history (rehab, drunk driving) would keep him from having a lengthy run as champ.

Well, I think you're assuming there that he would have stayed up in the 'main event' after the Austin feud. Austin was certainly not fighting main event matches (vs. Hall at MANIA, of all events) and I think they really just didn't have much left for Austin. This, of course, led to the walkout. I have a feeling Eddie was just a one-shot deal and wouldn't have led to a consistent push to the main event. They knew Eddie could work and therefore was a last ditch feud for Austin, which turns out as his last feud in the WWE.

That's also assuming that Austin (and the writers) didn't bury Eddie in an attempt to push Austin back to the top.

You're right, that promo was lame and overdone but that was due to The Rock, not to Eddie.

I have a tape of those ECW Austin interviews and matches. They're great, but it's because they're real for the most part.
