"WWE had their stockholder meeting this morning at The World in New York. The main details that came out were the following...
In the biggest news of the meeting, Vince said that he wants to bring ECW back and give it its own late night time slot. He then added that he is trying to purchase all of ECW's video footage in bankruptcy court."
Is anybody...and I mean ANYBODY buying this?!
"That's right! You suckas better FIND somewhere to run! 'cause it's me - Booker T - not only am I the Scorpion King, but I'm the five-time WCW Champion - and I got a sword, too! Now can U dig THAT - SUCKAAAAAS"
Please let the WWE come to an agreement with some of the Japanese feds for a talent sharing agreement like ECW had in the past.
I remember the good old days. Going to the ECW Arena with a case of beer in my trunk. Stopping at Tony Luke's beforehand for a cheesesteak. Tailgating in the parking lot before the doors opened. Standing in line and laughing at the drunks. Marking out like a maniac when New Jack would dive off the balcony and go through a table in front of me. Going to a cheezy topless bar afterwards to top off a wonderful evenign of sex and violence.
Those were the days.
These commercials are superfine because they pay for the production costs of putting CHRIS MOTHERFUCKING BENOIT on my GODDAMN TV SCREEN! I will GO GREYHOUND! I am thinking OUTSIDE THE BUN! – Dean Rasmussen 8/1/2002 Smackdown Workrate Report
I would be happy if they just turned Heat into a minor show. Have guys that have not been getting air time jump to Heat. Give them a small title exclusive to Heat like a T.V. title and let them go at it with mini storylines and feuds. It wouldn't even have to be involved with the ppvs, just have the title match as the Heat warm up for the ppv.
I wouldn't mind seeing the WWE buy the rights to the ECW tapes either, or even that great theme song.
I'm all for buying the rights to the ECW trademarks and video footage.
I know I'm in the minority about this so far, but I wouldn't bother with an attempt to actually recreate Extreme Championship Wrestling. It would always be seen as a “minor league” to WWE, and besides... neither the wrestlers nor the stockholders would ever stand for bringing back ECW-level standards of violence.
I believe that WCW, if allowed a chance to stand in their own spotlight, could be brought back and made to look equal to WWE. After all, WCW was once the #1 promotion in the world at a time when the WWF was giving us such wonderful characters as Doink the Clown. But ECW never surpassed the WWF, and could never be sold as being on the same level as WWE. Sorry to disappoint the Mutants out there, but it's true.
But the tapes and trademarks? Hell, fucking yes. I'd be even more excited about buying certain wrestlers' DVDs if I could see what they did in all three promotions. (Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio Jr. and Chris Benoit spring to mind immediately-- I never saw any of them in their ECW days.)
“Now put that thing back where it came from or so help me-- Oh, hey! We're rehearsing a scene from the upcoming company play called Put That Thing Back Where It Came From Or So Help Me.” --Mike Wazowski, Monsters, Inc.

And yes, I realize it can never be the same, but any sort of alternative wrestling product would be welcome in my eyes
Hey, if you're looking for an aternative TNA is on every week for 10 bucks.
not alot of people can get TNA. I have comcast cable and i can't get PPV's unless i pay $10 or so to upgrade to digital cable...i might upgrade after my brother moves out, since the house [and cable] is in his name until he leaves...
Currently suffering from Pink Eye. First, chicken pox at 20, now pink eye. What's next, the mumps? That's just my 2.461 Yen.
I have to agree that ECW will most likely never have it's own show. Maybe for a month of so but even that is unlikely. But I am excited about the WWE buying ECW's tape library. Just imagine a best of best of 97 or some other year with the best matches the WWF, WCW, and ECW had. That would kicks ass.
I just have 13 words for you. How much wood would a woodchuch chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
I think I feel the same way everybody else does. I would love to see some type of different product that I could watch on a weekly basis other than the generic WWE product. And for airing a new ECW, why not replace the horrid syndicated programming they have now? It serves no purpose as there are no original matches on them anymore.

With the exception of the title, this is what Heat is. Have you not been checking out the killer Raven vs. D'Lo feud going on there?

I like the idea of an ECW show on Saturday nights. It'd give Heyman a chance to stretch his creativity sans Steffo, and help Vince out by developing characters for all these cookie-cutters up from OVW.
Have it set in some small NYC venue, Get Cole & Tazz to announce it (Joey Styles is still persona non grata with Vince, I take it), and have the occasional ex-ECW alumnus come in to challenge the new talent. No touring around the country like the WWE. As for belts, have ONLY TV titles for the singles & tag teams. Once a new talent gets polished up, it's on to Heat/RAW or Velocity/SmackDown!
February 1 at Cowboy's in Calgary (where staff breast implants are not only encouragted, but paid for by management) there's a "special tribute" to former Stampede Wrestling announcer Ed Whalen...who passed away recently.
