The show will be held at the Hammerstein Ballroom, replacing Badd Blood. Vince supposedly gave instructions to his creative team that no one tell Paul Heyman anything regarding the show. He is not to have a role on the PPV (as of now...). Steph wants to only use current WWE talent, while Vince, suprisingly, wants to go ahead and bring in some names not under contract. He believes this will give the PPV a sense of authenticity. Jusin Credible and Steve Corino are not expected to be included. WWE is going hard on this, making it the focal point of the entire May sweeps. This will occur after a proposed draft after Mania, where Orton and Cena are penciled in to switch shows. | Promote this thread! | | Stilton

This seems excessively harsh and hurtful. Paul Heyman must be feeling like the late Rodney Dangerfield. No respect!

The guy was ECW, and he's on the payroll, yet he'll have no hand in the show? Incredible. I'd like to see them bring in some of the old ECW alums that aren't in the company, but realistically, who's out there that's any good. About the only guys that I can think of off the top of my head that would be able to do anything worthwhile is Raven, and he's contrscted to TNA>
And if Orton and Cena switch shows after Mania, that means that neither of them will be winning the title at Mania. I guess I'm not really roting for either of them to do it at Mania, but, especially with Cena, I think it could help turn things around. | oldschoolhero

Once upon a time in China, some believe, around the year one double-ought three, head priest of the White Lotus Clan, Pai Mei was walking down the road, contemplating whatever it is that a man of Pai Mei's infinite power contemplates - which is another way of saying "who knows" - when a Shaolin monk appeared, traveling in the opposite direction. As the monk and the priest crossed paths, Pai Mei, in a practically unfathomable display of generosity, gave the monk the slightest of nods. The nod was not returned. Now was it the intention of the Shaolin monk to insult Pai Mei or did he just fail to see the generous social gesture? The motives of the monk remain unknown. What is known, are the consequences. The next morning Pai Mei appeared at the Shaolin Temple and demanded of the Temple's head abbot that he offer Pai Mei his neck to repay the insult. The Abbot at first tried to console Pai Mei, only to find Pai Mei was inconsolable. So began the massacre of the Shaolin Temple and all 60 of the monks inside at the fists of the White Lotus. And so began the legend of Pai Mei's five point palm exploding heart technique. | xwesleyx

As for the proposed Cena/Orton trade: Lots of things happen in 4 months. At this point, it doesn't appear the Mania booking is in focus yet, let alone post-Mania.

If they're going to go ahead with this it can't be another standard, cookie-cutter WWE-type show just with different guys. It needs to be something completely different. Something totally unique that looks and feels nothing like WWE. I'm not sure if the WWE writing crew will be able to do that.

If its going to the Hammerstien Ballroom it should be interesting to see what a houseshow looks like on a PPV. If there are going to use current talent and not sign Raven, Sandman and Corino and not bringing Tommy, Tazz and Lance out of semi-retirement then I don't know if I want to watch it. Steph in charge of booking anything tends to led to disater, but this time she can blame it on the prodcut instead of her current regime of lousely writers.
Cena traded for Orton could be intriguing. I can see HHH getting the belt back between then and Mania and then shipping Orton away. Instead Eric gets Cena and you have Cena vs. HHH for SummerSlam where Cena can rightfully lay down for him, because ultimitaly that is what everyone is going to do anyway.

Or MAYBE they picked the Hammerstein Ballroom because the last two ECW PPV's (Massacre on 34th Street and Guilty as Charged 2001) were held there. Or maybe you consider them "houseshows."

I dunno. Unless you can gather the ECW heavyweights for what seems like a nostalgia show (Raven topping that list) and the WWE won't allow piledrivers or proper DVDs, doesn't seem like much more than the return of the hardcore division. I would love for this to be a proper show, but they have to sweeten the deal.

Whether you liked it or not or whatever, it was fun to watch. The style was cool. So, I guess I'll say that I'll wait and see. As for some of the key wrestlers that will/would be there but who are not WWE-related...
-Sabu: He could probably make more money in Japan for that same night's work. And he wouldn't have to deal with being toned down. -New Jack: Haha, yea right. I don' think this needs an explanation. Shane Douglas: I've always been a Franchise fan, but he's burned his bridge with WWE and after that TNA footage business, he'd be a no-go Bam Bam: He's retired. Candido: He's lost a lot of muscle and probably burned his bridge, too. That and...what happened to Sunny? Whipwreck & Sandman: Retired
There are just lots of key elements that, I see, as just not wanting to do it. Unless there was a lot of money involved. Oh well, wait and see.

Sabu has been a SHELL of his former self for the past few years. Plus, he has a tremendous amount of injuries. I'm not sure Rey could carry him to anything resembling a decent match, and I don't even think it'd be a good idea to have Sabu get in the ring at this point.
Raven vs Tommy Dreamer in a "I quit match"
RvD vs. Jerry Lynn in a iron man match as main event
Both Raven and Jerry Lynn are under contract to TNA, so those matches, as much as I'd love to see them on any ECW reunion show, couldn't happen.
And, man, thinking about this more, Vince BETTER bring some outside guys in and not listen to Stephanie's advice of not doing so. How boring would it be to have the grand ECW reunion just be a show of matches we see all the time on RAW & SmackDown?
