Between that and the Juan Epstein references I'm really liking Striker on commentary.

ECW might have the top announce combo in wrestling right now.

I thought it was a quality show this week and it felt liket there was a lot of wrestling.

- Mike Knox vs Matt Hardy was nothing exciting, but it made Matt look good. I can't remember him going over too many guys that much bigger than him. I like the Mike Knox of today a lot more than the Mike Knox that was with Kelly Kelly.

- Evan Bourne vs The Miz was entertaining. Again this was pretty standard wrestling, but we don't see much of that on Raw anymore so this worked for me.

- The American Boy vs the Natural ... I would have liked to have seen more of.

- Mark Henry vs Finlay I liked a lot too. I take it they are selling plastic Irish hats and blow up mallets and that is why Finlay is coming to the ring looking like such a goof, he also shouldn't be using the Hornswaggle music. Henry matches up well here with Finlay and the sell job of the shelele to the wrist almost brought a tear to my eye ... he wouldn't even let Tony Atlas raise that arm! I also like the clean finish out of no where.

Good show, lots of wrestling, little BS. I don't ask for much.

I'm pretty sure Striker also directly referenced Sunday's Simpsons rerun (unless the quote on the Simpsons was stolen from elsewhere...). During the main event, he said something about "people go to the ocean to cry because their tears look smaller," which is what Nelson says during his short film on the Sundance Film Festival episode (with "Chalmskinn").

Matt was blatantly calling the spots for Knox for the entire match. What's the point of all that icky hair if he doesn't use it to hide the communication? To his credit, he carried Knox to a good match, and Striker was all over the simple block for the Twist of Fate.

Commentators call spots for wrestlers? I never knew that but I guess it'd explain why former wrestlers are almost always color commentators.

    Really?

For whatever reason, that's how I initially read Shape's post, too. Life would be much easier if the color commentator was named Garrison Striker.

This cracked me up. I'm a big fan of Paul Kariya, and was only half paying attention then turned around going WTF and wondered why he would say that. Of course...it would be more relevant if Kariya still played in Nashville and not in St. Louis by now.

Reminds me of seeing Striker at a NY Rangers game last year. He acknowledged me yelling :"MY TEACHER MATT STRIKER!" with a curteous nod.

It's amazing how well this quick-stunt hiring worked out. He was the guy who lied about why he had to skip teaching so he could work a show. The WWE snatched him up for easy news coverage. And he's been awesome almost from the start.

I really would have no problem if they shifted these two to RAW. I think it helps that Striker is knowledgeable(sp?) about the product and actually seems to care about it, as opposed to someone like Cole who comes off so phony when he tries to act enthusiastic.

Solid ECW as usual. It always seems lately like a good striaght-up wrestling show. They go with simple stuff that has always worked, as opposed to RAW where they try to reinvent the wheel sometimes.

Here's an idea, some people seem to think Flair needs a younger star to team with for the next ppv before Benoit vs. Flair at Summerslam. So why not have Eddy cost RVD the KOTR, after all, they were feuding and never really resolved things.
