That Royal Rumble hype piece was OUTSTANDING. Did Todd Pettengill narrate it? Ah ha ha I'm kidding (or am I?)
I liked Kofi Kingston's music - it's like somebody convinced Daft Punk to record reggae. WITH SEXY RESULTS.
That jobber who wasn't Colin Delaney (the one facing Kingston) kinda had a Goldberg thing going on, didn't he? I'm happy he didn't paralyse himself on the WORST botched monkey flip I'd seen in maybe ever.
I'm thinking there were still a few noticable moments when people not seeing the entire HD screen got close to NO visible action on their TVs. Not that I cared - YES, I ALSO GET SCI FI HD.
Even *I* am tired of hearing the commentators endless remind us that they're in HD. The women sure looked very "wellness policy" in HD, if you catch my drift, Dave Meltzer and Justin Shapiro.
MY problem is that there seemed to be more going on than Comcast allowed bandwidth for, so my picture ended up making me reminiscient for the days when I'd try to watch RealAudio with my 56K dialup connection. Lots of frame dropout and crazy macropixelationwhateverit'scalled.
Oh and I should mention the new ECW Champion I suppose. Storylinewise, will Chavo ever wake up and notice that now he's been successfully insulated from Edge, Edge's show, Edge's lover... Man, it's like Edge was really worried that CHAVO was the one guy who could win the World championship offa him. Six, nine months from now Edge/Chavo might be an interesting feud. (Six, nine months from now we'll be nowhere near that, I'm sure, because these things tend to not go in directions I've anticipated. Except the Colin Delaney thing - THAT one I'm pretty sure I know where it's going, but I don't know if they can hang onto it past WrestleMania like they need to.)

I really had nothing but nobody else started the thread - I'm surprised - first HD show AND the #1 title changes hands, and we're all still here waiting for a thread!

I was waiting just to comment on the Royal Rumble package. I DVR'd the show and FF'd through a lot, but had to stop and watch that preview - chills, baby. Old school chills. That and the Hardy/Orton build-up may have actually gotten them PPV dollars out of me for the first time since WMXX.
I had to check on Nameless's time in the '04 Rumble because I was sure that he had the record and WWE was just ignoring it and going with Rey for obvious reasons. Nope; Rey by a minute.
I rarely watch ECW but read the reviews and, of course, see the clips/commercials shown on Raw. Based on that little bit of viewing, I got the thought in my head that the general plan with ECW, now that they've "merged" with Smackdown in a talent-sharing procedure, was to consolidate the two titles. I took Edge's antagonism of CM Punk to be a step in that direction. Is anyone else on that same page, or am I completely misreading things due to lack of viewing?
A couple points: The Salami's analysis is sophisticated and, under current WWE conditions, probably correct. When you subtract the things current WWE contract performers won't do/aren't permitted to do from an RVD match, he can't do his best work.
