That was a very fine hour of sports entertainment. The presence of Chris Jericho added some serious star power and linked ECW to the going ons with the rest of the brands, which has been missing the last couple of weeks. Because ECW has no Bragging Rights.

It gave ECW a nice little rub to have Jericho on the show trying to scout some ECW ringers for Team Smackdown. (I'm glad to see my request in the Smackdown thread last week has been logically pursued and Jericho is unhappy with his team.)

Too bad for Jericho Tiffany put the brakes on his recruiting efforts. Jericho's bragging about his ability to perform on all three brands bit him in the ass when Tiffany booked him to face Christian. Tiffany is one tough cookie to stand up to Jericho. (Is is sexist to call a female GM a tough cookie because she's a woman? Yes. Oh well.)

Christian and Jericho had a fine match. I think that was the first time those two have met as opponents in the ring since Trish dumped Jericho for Christian. Which was... over five years ago! Wow. Time flies.

The best things on the show for me were 1) The return of William Regal's disingenuous smile when Tiffany is around and 2) Jericho and Regal comparing their suits.

Jericho: "That's a nice suit you're wearing. It's not a Hugo Boss, but..."
Regal: "No, mine is Hermes, and it's a far finer cut of cloth than yours."
Jericho: "Well, we can stand here comparing our suits all day, can't we?"

Through all that, Kozlov stared blankly ahead while Ezekiel kind of rolled his eyes. That's (sports) entertainment.

Shelton Benjamin showed more babyface fire than ever when he went after Sheamus. Shelton finally has the crowds on his side and he has always had the physical tools to legitimately look like an asskicker. There was a nice little "Thank you, Shelton!" chant after he ran Sheamus off.

Next week the push to the moon of Yoshi Tatsu continues as he faces Christian for the ECW Title.

Tiffany really ratcheted up her intensity when delivering that speech to-- hahahahaha, nah, I can't say it with a straight face. (Ironic!)

Lauren Mayhem needs to eat a cheeseburger and also do a better job as ring announcer. OR maybe they could just find a competent ring announcer and stop caring about how they look! Given the Lilian Garcia precedent, however, we are now stuck with Lauren - ha, I typed "Mayhem" by mistake, I think I just gave her a new clever nickname totally unintentionally - stuck with Mayhew for at least ten years.

I know it's a far off dream, but I hope this leads to Yoshi taking the title so Christian leave for SD! and re-team with Edge to take the titles (or at least one set of titles) off of JeriShow.

Damn, I forgot to mention Lauren no longer being a disembodied voice. I'm sure she'll grow into competency as a ring announcer over the next ten years. By the end of her decade run Lillian was the best ring announcer in the business, right? Right?!

Every time Tiffany clasped her hands, I kept thinking, "That arm in a sling isn't hurt. She's gonna swing and hit Jericho with the Polish Hammer!"

The first/last matches that popped into my head were
- last singles match: December 2004, Beat the Clock before New Year's Revolution
- last match as opponents: April 2005, threeway with Shelton Benjamin the night after Wrestlemania

Top of the line entertainment here. Regal trying to be sweet to Tiffany despite how much he loathes her idiocy is amazing.

E&C as the uber-team who finally takes the belts from JeriShow is a great idea. That has Wrestlemania written all over it.

Kirk, crackers are a family food. Happy families. Maybe single people eat crackers, we don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know. It's a market we can do without.

Here's a video clip I shot using my digital camera from RAW on Monday night. It's about 45-60 seconds long and is 22Mb in size, so it's a bit of a download.
