Kind of a chick flick, but I saw the trailers on ABC Family while watching Grounded For Life, and it looked like a funny movie with a unique premise. Went to see it with the girlfriend Saturday night, and it did live up to my expectations. Emma Stone could be huge before long, and I think my favorite characters were her parents, played by Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson. They didn't get a ton of screen time, but I laughed at just about everything they said.
It's more of a teen flick than a chick flick (but I guess you could argue that's two sides of the same coin). Emma Stone, Patricia Clarkson, and Stanley Tucci are indeed the best things in the movie. I thought the movie itself was all right overall, but Stone will be a big star; she is reportedly going to be Mary Jane Watson in the new Spider-Man reboot.
Is there something about being a wrestling fan that makes you immune to nuance? I liked it but the original was better. To be fair, McLovin is playing a very different character from Evil Ed from the original film.
