|  #1 Posted on 15.11.04 1242.05 | Instant Rating: 7.03 | OK, I am NOT a sci-fi channel addict, but am enjoying a few Battlestar Galactica episodes today while waiting for the time to head for the airport - coming up to Canada - so look out BigBad! - and they arre running ads for Earthsea - a miniseries starting in December (13th).
Man, I am excited! This little series by Ursula LeGuin is one of my all-time favorites and should a favorite of this board. (The main Character's real name is Zed). Watch the show, but if you have time, read "A Wizard of Earthsea" - you won't be sorry.

Did they give any indication if they are doing just the first 3 books or are they including the later stories as well?

"I wonder if the people who made the film of The Lord of the Rings had ended it with Frodo putting on the Ring and ruling happily ever after, and then claimed that that was what Tolkien "intended..." would people think they'd been "very, very honest to the books"?

I think it is a pass. Some major problems with fundamentals of the story and things like... oh, characters' skin color.
(edit/ just looked at the the trailers... nice production values but... not a hell of a lot in common with the books.
Watching the chick playing Tenar talk made me want to claw out my brain.)

That looks absolutely horrible. I think that's one that I'll Tivo and then check out after the fact so I'm not committed to the time it would take to actually watch this piece of apparent dreck.

I suspect there would have been an horrific outcry if Peter Jackson had butchered LOTR in that fashion. I wonder how much of an outcry there will be over this butchery?

Damn. That's right. Well, it's been a long time since I read it and was excited when I wrote the email. Oh well - still a heck of a series.
