I didn't recognize him by name, but I immediately recognized several of the songs that he wrote, like The Ole Fishin' Hole ( (opened The Andy Griffith Show) and Harlem Nocturne ( (opened Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer) and several others. Apparently, he wrote a memoir (The W at Amazon) also. Judging from the title, he had tongue firmly in cheek at the time...

There aren't enough talented people on this planet to make up for the loss of one as great as him. Rest in peace.
