Man, I hope they don't bring the N word. That'd be completely unnecessary, for one thing... there are plenty of other, more creative ways to insult someone. And as if the GTA series didn't have enough bad media publicity as it is, throwing an N word in there just for the hell of it would be begging for trouble.
Then again, Rockstar may decide that GTA's media publicity (which is inversely proportional to its popularity, by the way) couldn't possibly get any worse, so what've they got to lose?
Having said that... with as much trouble as they got regarding the “kill all the Haitians” line in Vice City (which was actually an appropriate line given the context), I can't imagine they'll use an actual, legitimate racial slur.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if they used it. They made Manhunt, and in that game they had a group of skinhead-types, and they used the term "shitskin" like it was going out of style. In my opinion, even though that isn't as common of a racial slur, it just sounds more offensive.
The N-word isn't always used in a derogatory context, so they might be able to pass it off as just being realistic. On the other hand, the GTA series is much more popular than Manhunt (and gets much more publicity), so maybe they'll take it easy this time.
Does anyone know if they used it in True Crime? I thought I remember reading (or hearing for myself) that they did.
I hope they keep the spirit of the GTA games intact, and I think that would include not being too offensive. They've been over the top in violence and language, but the N-word, to me, isn't something they should use. They've had the opportunity to use just about every racial slur in the book in both GTA 3 and Vice City, and they've held back.
Manhunt was, in my opinion, average at best, and was perhaps the darkest game I've ever played. It had no humor (at least nothing I could laugh at) and I think the designers were going for an incredibly dark, sick, game. The GTA games have been about fun, and, really, I think the game winks at you while being highly over the top. Manhunt was an envelope pusher that made me feel almost dirty.
Gravity is a contributing factor in nearly 73 percent of all accidents involving falling objects.
It isn't a part of my vernacular either. The -ER or -A ending variant. Truth be told a lot of hoodlums use the modified word and some scumbags use the other version of it. But if I really wanted reality I would just visit my family in Watts. I too wouldn't want them to get to0 realistic. But I wouldn't trip over characters using the word as long as they are not portrayed as anything but low class assholes. I am sure some of the 90's rap songs will have it. One thing I do want is some stage that takes place in prison with all the different gangs in there. That would be sweet, and it would make you not be so reckless since getting arrested will delay you for some time.
I don't think you understand how hard it is to drive a brand into the ground, and erode the popular support that has flourished for over thirty years. I get up early. And I don't go to bed until I've made some very poor decisions.
You could kinda recreate those in the past games with the "everyone riots" cheat code. But I wouldn't mind a full fledge riot with overturned cars and everyone looting. What I hate about the riot codes before is, while everyone else is mowing each other down, the police still want to arrest my ass for car jacking. And don't let me get started on how lame State of Emergency was.
