WWE has started to go after online "efeds" for copyright infringement. Word is that WWE is now planning to launch their own "fantasy federation" which is why they are closing down as many independent ones as possible.

OK, guys, answer me this question. Are they on drugs, incredibly fucking stupid, or both?

Talk about killing your fanbase...

I'm guessing it's a little of all three. But I swear they had their own fantasy thing before.

Arent they called video games?

Considering Vince has lived by the motto: As long as they spell my name right, it's good publicity, would anyone be shocked if they sued some 12 year old for copyright infringement during the Countdown to Mania 21?
As for the 3 options, I lean towards #2, because as Vince has repeatedly stated, they have world class drug testing occurring in his company.

Any third world countries want Kevin Millar? I'll throw Ramiro Mendoza in the package just to give you a good deal.

I ran an e-fed twice, and I had to kill any application from people hoping to use a "real life" wrestler. Many feds I've checked out use either avatars with wrestlers featured, or otherwise.

Maybe that's what Vinnie Mac is after...

The feds I ran were 100% legit and original, with no reality involved. The only thing I really did was use popular cultural icons here in Canada as inspiration for my interviewing staff...

Example: Brian Williams, CBC's resident sports expert. He was inspiration for Bryan Villiams, whos "R"s were long, so he'd say something along the lines of "All rrrrright, folks". Also, was Electric Joel, who was inspired by Joltin' Joe from Toronto's STARPHONE wrestling line, but with that, I'd make fun of his constant over-markishness and the fact that he'd plug all of his lines, and give him an 'all female horse ballet team update' on line 10234 or something like that.

No lawsuits from either people, though. Not sure if Joel is still in business on Starphone, either.

I'm Renegade Raine and I approve this message:

I wonder if Vince will go after ALL e-feds, e-feds that use actual wrestlers, or e-feds that use WWE pictures. Because I'm part of an e-fed (or will be...I'm on very long break right now) that doesn't have people like Eddie Guerrero or Torrie Wilson, but uses celebrity (including wrestlers) pictures to represent their wrestler (Ex. One of my characters, Diablos, will use Sean O'Haire banners).

But on a side note, how the hell is the WWE going to run an e-fed with all the people that are bound to join? Is it going to be a pay thing? Because that would be stupid (having to pay to write? I'll pass). How the hell are they going to fit all the people on a show? A whole HELL of a lot of people are going to be doing dark matches, that's for sure.

Let me guess how this will work...if your wrestler is under 230 lbs, you'll never get higher on the card than jobbing on Velocity. So, if you suck at RPing, make sure you make your wrestler at LEAST 250 lbs., and throwing in a swastika jpeg in your RP couldn't hurt either.

Joltin Joe is still on Starphone and as annoying as ever.

He must be related to Norman DeCosta because there is absolutely no other way he could have gotten this job.

Actually, I think that's how the e-fed I was in worked. Of course, as I wouldn't stoop to those levels (and my RP's were of the witty repartee variety, rather than the 45-minute blatherfest), I think I only won eight matches in my career.

Yeah, it was never a highly regarded e-fed, but at least it'd still be around after the crackdown, as they banned existing characters. Maybe it's me being an elitist, but I don't see why you can't be creative enough to devise your own character.

I think this is a bit over spun

My familarity with efeds reminds me that lots and lots of them borrow trademarked logos and graphics, which to a someone who's under age and googling the wrong terms, can look like an offical-type website. They're WWE graphics in any case, and they love to protect their intellectual property.

They may not have been just going after those things and really been anti-efed, but we don't have a single e-fed to check that out, just a "Word is" answer.

There's nothing they could do about efeds that don't use WWE characters.

If they did sanaction an e-fed, I'd doubt they'd do this inhouse. For the online card game, they sold rights to a online card company; is there an online e-fed counter[part for non wrestling things out there?

Could you imagine the damage the WWE could do to these e-feds, if they trademarked the names Justin Sane or Kid (Insert Adjective)

E-feds used to be the shit, back when basic HTML skills could get you somewhere, but 15 year old kids with dad's credit card ran us dinosaurs out of buisness. I ran two, one pretty successful and one flopped. Can't tell you how hard it was to find people who wanted to do an orginal gimmick.

With alot of e-feds selling legit merchandise on CafePress, WWE may be able to make some noise.

Vince and EGO mania is running wild again. Ok, I can see closing one's down who use directly copyrighted images but some efeds are pretty good.

I was in few around four years ago and I swear the writing was better than what the WWE/F was producing at the time. The efed population tends to come and go.

I also ran one for a short time. I'd like to get into it again if I ever find free time. Also, I hope whom ever gets shut down doesn't get to mad because it's only VINNY MAC trying to take over the world.

I write all the shows for the E-fed on the LOP message board.

I think it's bullshit personally. Vince cant really be that board to go after E-feds.

To my knowledge I dont know of any that charge money or make money. If they were doing that and using his characters I could see the reasoning to sue.

But hey if he wants to muscle me out of writing shows he can cut me a check and I'll stop tomorrow.
