I really wanted to get DW4-XL for $30, but I'm afraid its just an expansion disk. The real DW4 is $50 (out of price range). Or should I get DW3 on sale or Tactics?
Also I wanted to get Soul Caliber2 for PS2, but it's sold out at Best Buy. Where to go to get this game?| Promote this thread! |           | vsp

|  #3 Posted on 22.12.03 0002.14 | Instant Rating: 4.26 | DW4:XL is indeed an expansion disc, while it is a standalone game in its own right it isn't as deep as DW4 itself.
If DW4 is out of your price range, then your best bet would be to get DW3 used. It's light-years ahead of DW2 in presentation, number of characters (and they're all unique now, no more complete clones of each other) and about three times as many stages, each still playable from both sides. Add in collectable items and weapons, including well-hidden '4th weapons' that have special elemental powers, and some downright goofy voice acting, and you should be set for a good while.

Stick with cheesy subtitles. The English voice acting in DW3 makes the original Resident Evil's sound realistic -- I'm not sure I've ever heard worse in a released game. (The Japanese voice acting is a little campy, but not nearly as offensive to the ear.)

| #5 Posted on 28.12.03 1019.29 | DW3 had the funniest cheesy voice acting I've heard on a video game since... I don't know, but it was so cheesy then. I think Zhao Yun was channeling Ric Flair (or just trying to impersonate him) on the Chi Bi scenario.
"This victory... shall belong to Wooooooooooooooooo!"
But yeah, if DW4's out of price range, stick with an old DW3. The Xtreme Legends expansion discs don't offer a whole new range or anything worth $30 for. |
