| #1 Posted on 26.7.12 0756.42 | Instant Rating: 6.55 | So, I'm trying to record the Olympic soccer, but when I hit the record button on my controller, it says "recording not allowed." I don't have this problem with any other program. So my first thought was that the Olympics aren't allowed to be recorded, for some bizarre reason. But my best efforts to find some info to that effect via Google search and Google News have turned up nothing, which leads me to believe either that I suck at Googling, or that my theory can't be true. Because surely if the Olympics are un-DVR-able, there would be countless others complaining about it on the Internet, right?
So anyone have any idea what the issue is?| Promote this thread! | | Mike Zeidler

Try recording it through the guide and just hitting record while watching, does it come up on both? It may just be a broadcast flag set incorrectly at your provider.
My TiVo to-do list is full of upcoming Olympic recordings, perhaps it was a one time glitch?

I know Comcast has special channels dedicated to Olympic soccer and basketball set up and I wouldn't be surprised to hear they had the capability to disallow recording on those particular channels. I WOULD be disappointed - but perhaps it will all end up in the On Demand section anyway so you wouldn't need to store it on your DVR. Xfinity!

I just tried it (Time Warner Cable). NBC Sports Network got the "Recording is not allowed" message, but MSNBC recorded just fine.

It wasn't a recording conflict and yes it was a channel I have. I tried recording it multiple ways and it didn't work with any of them. The "recording not allowed" message is something I've never seen before, so I'm assuming it's a problem different from one I would expect to run into.

Ask them if they've gotten the NXT tapes from WWE yet!

| #7 Posted on 26.7.12 1619.00 | Instant Rating: 6.55 | | Well I just realized it will let me record anything after 6 pm today - all day tomorrow and Saturday I am able to record. Very weird. I contacted Bright House and they said there was no reason why I shouldn't be able to record this channel, so I have no explanation. But I'm glad I'll be able to record the rest of it. I was disappointed to miss Great Britain/Senegal today, but I can get it on the replay. | TheBucsFan

| #8 Posted on 26.7.12 1722.23 | Instant Rating: 6.55 | | Well I take that back. Once 6:00 pm got here, the recording I had scheduled didn't go through, and now I get the same error message. Looks like the other NBC channels will record, but not NBC Sports Network. This really is disappointing. I have an appointment for Monday for someone to come check it out, but I really don't understand how this can be a hardware issue, especially because it sounds like Kwik is having the exact same issue. | PeterStork

| #10 Posted on 27.7.12 0002.00 | That's interesting. I have Comcast here in Tacoma and it worked just fine. BTW, great game even though the ladies were down to France 2-0 in the first 20 mins.

If you haven't already, try re-booting your receiver or main box.
Turn 'er off, unplug the power cord from the wall, wait 30 seconds, plug 'er back in and fire it up.
Sometimes when a receiver goes wonky, a re-boot is all it needs.
Good luck!
