I know there's already a thread for this, but I tend to write longer posts, so I thought I'd start my own thread. Time for the DVD Royal Rumble Preview. Here goes:

World Championship: TripleH vs. Scott Steiner
This won't be what it could be, but I don't think it'll be a stinker either. If Steiner relies on his power moves(suplexes, slams, clotheslines) and TripleH brings his "Game", it'll be good enough. Really can't predict this one as I don't know if they've got the balls to put the belt on Steiner. I doubt it, and TripleH usually doesn't job, so I guess I'll pick TripleH. Rematch at No Way Out wouldn't be out of the question, esp. since Steiner's on the promotional poster.

WWE Championship: Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit
Ever since these two locked up at WM2000, fans have been wanting more. Benoit was good before he came to the WWE, but now I feel he's better. Ditto for Angle, except he started here. They've been feuding on again off again for the past 3 years. Now it's for the biggest prize of them all. I totally expect Team Angle to get involved, possibly Heyman too. But in between the outside shenanigans, there will be a classic WWE title match. Benoit will somehow get screwed, and Angle will keep his title. May possibly set up a rematch at No Way Out, perhaps a gimmick match. *This* is the future of the WWE, right here.

Winner goes on to the Rumble: Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show
Personally, I've been waiting a long time for Show to start kicking ass. I'm glad someone's finally gotten behind him.
Brock brings the moves, sells for Show's offense, Taker returns and chokeslams Show, setting up a higher profile feud for Show. Brock wins and goes on to the Rumble.

Stepmother vs Stepdaughter: Dawn Marie Wilson vs. Torrie Wilson
If Dawn Marie is actually announced as that, it'll be worth seeing this match alone. I totally expected Kidman and Torrie to storm the ring when Dawn and Al got married, but it didn't happen. And I don't expect it to here. Maybe Kidman will come out to Torrie's aid, but maybe not. You know what I'd like to see? Doug Bashman(perhaps going back to his "Machine" gimmick) runs in and nails Torrie for the Dawn Marie win. This feud isn't done. Al's been written out, but it ain't over. I know, I'd rather have Dawn use a cruiser that could actually go after Kidman's title as well, but who? Bring up Spanky or American Dragon? Stick with Bashman(or is it Basham?) as the Machine. And Dawn's slave.

World Tag Team Championships: William Regal and Lance Storm vs. the Dudley Boyz
Regal and Storm have been a perfect heel team, winning almost all the time, then waiting until after the match to give the beatdown. Dudleys would look damn good with those belts, but I don't see that happening here. Put their title win off until WM, or give them the belts and push a face/face match against Booker and Goldust at WM. I'm guessing WWE will go with the first option, seeing as how they've got a good thing going with Storm and Regal.

Royal Rumble: Winner gets a WM main event title shot against his respective brand's championship
Raw participants: Batista, Rosey, Jamal, Jeff Hardy, Kane, RVD, Booker T, Goldust, HBK, Chris Jericho, Christian, Test, Maven, Chris Nowinski, Tommy Dreamer
Smackdown participants: Edge, A-Train, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Bill DeMott, Rey Misterio, Matt Hardy, John Cena, B-2, Eddy Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero, Rikishi, Tajiri, Brock or Big Show, unnamed 30th Superstar

This is going to be one hell of a match. Sure, Brock's almost a shoe in to win, but he might not, and that adds to the "live" feel that the WWE has been missing lately. Almost everyone's got issues with everyone else in this match. Just from the Smackdown roster you've got Rappers/Guerreros, Rey/A-Train, Edge/A-Train, Rikishi/Cena, Team Angle/Brock(assuming he wins) and Edge/Team Angle. I'm sure there's more angles I'm missing. Then on the Raw side you've got HBK/Jericho, Batista/Kane, Nowinski/Dreamer, Jericho/Christian, BookerT and Goldust/Jericho and Christian, RVD/Batista and again, I'm sure I'm missing more. *Then* you've got the cross brand angles that could be blown up here. Matt and Jeff Hardy reunited for the first time. Ditto with Edge and Christian. Edge and Chris Jericho. Plenty of cool moments with the revealed Superstars. The mystery is who is the 30th unnamed Superstar? Is it Austin(as it should be) or is it the Undertaker making his return. My idea for Taker is outlined above, which I believe is better than tossing him in an already crowded Rumble match. If Austin does return, imagine the face offs that could happen. At the top of those possibilities is Austin facing off with Brock and Austin finally facing off with HBK after 5 long years. Sure, they'd both probably be faces, but what a moment. I honestly can't pick a winner here, besides the fact that it's a Wrestlemania Main Event Title Shot on the line. A WWE Wrestlemania Main Event. I'd put good money down that it'll be a Smackdown superstar that wins, and it'll probably be Brock. Not that that'd be a bad thing. Just a predictable ending. Kinda like TripleH winning it last year. Or Austin winning in 2001.

Ok, that's it. 24 hours away, and it looks to be a super PPV if they do it right. And they'll be hard pressed to not do it right. It'd be hard to screw up. I'll be watching Sunday.

Isn't 'If there is something so foolproof that it can't be screwed up we'll find a way to screw it up worse than anyone could imagine' the motto of the WWF/E for the past two years?

Yea I let out a chuckle when I read this, but all joking aside; is that how you're gonna treat the WWE when it looks like a good PPV is coming up? Kill it before it happens?

No, I'm just saying the higher your expectations, the greater the disappointment. If you expect them to screw things up, you can be happily surprised if they don't. If you expect them to run things right, your setting yourself up for the l'affaire de Wilson got more time than Benoit/Angle and the Rumble match letdown that is always possible.

Despite being listed as an entrant in the Rumble match, I thought the whole angle with B2 and Cena on Smackdown was an injury angle for B2??

They really "injured" his shoulder, and the second it happened, I figured it was to free up a spot in the Rumble for a "last-minute" surprise.

I'm going to buck the trend and COMPLETELY ignore the N.W.O./Rock/Semi Truck of Doom portions of the show, and just address a couple of things.
