| #1 Posted on 4.1.04 2047.46 | Instant Rating: 2.38 | Just bought a new DVD player. It's a Panasonic DVD/CD player, DVDS25. Everything seems to be plugged in properly, in the back of the DVD Player and the back of the TV. However, when I press "setup" on the remote as instructed in the manual, nothing happens. *Yes, there are batteries in the remote*. Whenever I put a DVD in, the DVD player reads "play", but nothing plays on the screen. Am I missing something here? If anyone can help me out, that would be great.| Promote this thread! | | Downtown Bookie

On my television remote, I have a tv/video button that allows me to change my tv to video mode and then I can see my DVD's. It's sorta like the AUX channel you get on your VCR.
From what you stated, it sounds as if your tv isn't in video mode. | geemoney

Yeah...I've set it so it shows on Channel 3. Still nuthin though.
Ticamo.....My TV remote has a "DVD" button, which I pushed. It sent the TV to channel 3, which is the channel I selected to watch the DVD. However, when I put the DVD in, the DVD player says "play", but the movie doesn't come up on the TV screen.

You might try flipping down below Channel 2 on your remote to see if an AUX or LINE channel comes up, and if your DVD shows up there.

I'm agreeing with the notion that you might have the wrong channel. My DVD won't play on channel 3. I have to change the TV channel to A/V # 1, or MultiMedia # 3.
At my mom's house, I had to run my mom's DVD player through her VCR since her TV was too old. For the DVD to work, her TV must be on #3, and the VCR channel must be on "Line #1," or "Line #2" to play properly.
Along the same lines, for my Xbox to work, the TV has to be on MultiMedia # 2. And...the DVD player will not play properly if the Xbox is on.
So.....try your aux., audio/video, or multi-media channels, and try shutting off any gaming devices you might have hooked up (Xbox, PS, GameCube).

I see regular programming on channel three. The DVD didn't show up when I went to "line".
gargs- I have the VCR programmed to "line", and the TV on channel three- so it SHOULD show up on that channel for the DVD. However, all that shows up when I push "play" or "setup" is the blank blue screen. It's like the movie is playing, it's just not showing up on the TV for some reason. | Guru Zim

If so, take a picture of that back of the TV with the cables plugged in.
It's got to be in how the cords are set up.
How are you connecting this - RCA jacks, Coaxial cables, or something different? How high end is this setup?

| #9 Posted on 5.1.04 1950.57 | Instant Rating: 2.86 | | Problem solved. My uncle came to take a look at it....you had to press "menu" on the TV remote, go through a bunch of options, and set the channel to "video input", not "channel three". Then you press "dvd" on the tv remote, and voila, you get the picture. Apparently, going through the "setup" of the dvd player as per the instructions is not necessary. At least, until the next problem arises. Thanks to everyone for their help. |
