The title is pretty meaningless considering all of the Cruisers wrestle the Heavyweights in competitive matches anyway. Being called a Cruiserweight is more of a stigma than anything. If Raw became a WCW show and dumped the IC and WWE Tag belts in favor of the US and WCW Tag belts(as I discussed in my previous thread), then the guys that are considered Cruiserweights could compete with the Big Boys for the IC and WWE Tag straps on SmackDown.
Take a look at SmackDown's Cruisers(and former Cruisers):
BILLY KIDMAN-big enough to compete with Big Boys
CHAVO GUERRERO-tags w/Eddie & feuding w/Rikishi
CHRIS BENOIT-SmackDown Main Eventer(former IC champ)
CRASH-former tag champ w/Hardcore & a "Super Heavyweight"
EDDIE GUERRERO-SmackDown Main Eventer(former IC champ)
FUNAKI-feuding w/Albert on Velocity
JAMIE NOBLE-competitive match w/Billy & Chuck
MATT HARDY-mini feud w/UT
MAVEN-mini feud w/UT
REY MYSTERIO-beat Angle & Benoit
SCOTTY 2 HOTTY-former Tag champ
SHANNON MOORE-beat Billy & Chuck in Tag matches
TAJIRI-feuded w/Regal and Rhyno among others
And Raw has utilized Cruisers(and former Cruisers):
CHRIS JERICHO-1st Undisputed champ
CHRISTIAN-former IC and Tag champ
JEFF HARDY-former IC and Tag champ
LANCE STORM-former IC and Tag champ
SPIKE DUDLEY-former Tag champ & a "Giant Killer"

By getting rid of the Cruiserweight title, the Cruisers on SmackDown would have more room to grow. They also could feud over titles that are far more meaningful. The Cruiser title doesn't even get defended at PPV's anyway. It will not help any of the Cruisers if they win it because they all are above just being a Cruiserweight anyway.
Just for the frick of it, here's possible teams to determine new WWE Tag Champs on SmackDown:
Kidman & Mysterio
Eddie & Chavo
Benoit & Angle
Crash & Hardcore
Noble & Tajiri
M.Hardy & S.Moore
Billy & Chuck
D-Von & Faarooq

Now I know we all have our smark cards, but I don't think that the higher ups are THAT dumb. They know the talent of the cruisers, especially in relation to the "hosses". However, secretly, don't let it out, but I'd like to see EHMtestEHM get a push. And a belt.

You do realize that we're talking about the same higher ups that wanted to push Nash before he tore his quad? That want to push Bubba as a ME'er? That let guys like Kaz Hayashi, Elix Skipper, Jason Jett, and Mike Sanders go?

The cruiser title means a lot more than the intercontnental title, tag team title, womens title, and even the RAW (Russo/Arquette) "world" title, which have all become props.
If the cruiser division was eliminated, the cruisers would become jobbers to the overrated heavyweigghts like Mark Henry and Big Show.

Like they aren't now? I can't even remember the number of times Tajiri jobbed to Rhyno and Test when he was champion.
Yeah, they need to have Jamie defend the title more, but they did the same (worse actually) with both Taka and Dean. Give Heyman a chance; he'll get them going eventually. | It's False

| #7 Posted on 1.10.02 0212.15 | I sincerely hope they jumpstart the division soon, but I've said that VERY many times already. They're simply not taking the division seriously. Rey Mysterio was brought in to bring attention to the division and he's wrestling against Angle and Benoit (not that there's anything wrong with that) while Jamie Noble, Cruserweight champion, hasn't defended the title on PPV in months.
I say, wait and see how the Ultimo Dragon situation turns out before judging whether the title should be dumped.

|  #8 Posted on 1.10.02 0728.15 | I disagree. The booking mix on Smackdown! is working for me, even if there's no Cruiserweight Title Matches.
Where does it say that they brought in Rey to highlight the division? He pretty much got staight into his feud with Angle upon arrival and it's all worked out pretty well. It may even help get the rest of the cruiserweights over as legit contenders for the heavyweights (should they decide to dump the division)
But I don't think they will and I don't think they should dump the belt.
