New logo:

New Unis, with colors black and gold:

I can see getting away from the old Ducks logo, but I agree with the PTI guys, I'm not a big fan of taking away the "Mighty." I actually prefer the alternate logo and unis (purple) that they had in the '04-'06 seasons.

The colors I can live with (though I LOVED the black alternate jersey. didn't they use those as home jersey in the past few months anyways?)
Oh well..it will take a bit of time to get used to.

The new owners wanted to get away from the Disney stigma.

Then why not just change the name too?
they have no titles and therefore no real history.

I believe its the trip to the Finals a few years ago that prevents them from changing the name, winning one seems to be inconsequential.

| #9 Posted on 25.6.06 0449.27 | Instant Rating: 6.07 | Earlier in the season I heard they wanted to change the name of the team as well, but last thing I heard was that the fans voted against it. Which is kinda cool.
The Mighty was dropped (and the logo was changed) to make sure it wasn't Disney anymore. But unless the owners had to pay Disney for the use of the name/logo I don't see why it had to be changed...
So now people will spend years cursing at this one and wanting the old one back..which is funny since the logo, gimmick and everything was considered to be such a joke about 12 years ago.

| #10 Posted on 25.6.06 1826.24 | Instant Rating: 4.66 | I'm sorry, but 'Anaheim Ducks' makes no sense. At least other nonsensical team nicknames like the Utah Jazz and LA Lakers have moves to explain their names.
If Disney was smart and really wanted to make money on their team (as opposed to just promote their movie), they would've put the team in Minnesota in the first place after the Stars left. Minnesota is most hockey-crazy state in the USA -- they would've made piles of cash.
"You know what the fellow said: In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." --- Harry Lime (Orson Welles) in The Third Man |
