DS Retail (Tuesday) - Learn Math: Genius Edition - Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars - Playmobil Agents
When I was a kid, I got a Playmobil set from my uncle. It was an Esso station and you could drive little cars up, pretend to fill them up with gas, etc. I used to pretend that some of the customers were terrorists and they'd take over the Esso station.
3DS Retail (Sunday) - Nintendo 3DS system - Asphalt 3D - Bust-A-Move Universe - Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D - Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars - Madden NFL Football - Nintendogs + Cats: French Bulldog and New Friends - Nintendogs + Cats: Golden Retriever and New Friends - Nintendogs + Cats: Toy Poodle and New Friends - Pilotwings Resort - Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D - Rayman 3D - Ridge Racer 3D - Samurai Warriors: Chronicles - The Sims 3 - Steel Diver - Super Monkey Ball 3D - Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition - Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars
Some of the 3DS games are out today, but all will be out on or before Sunday. Sounds like Street Fighter IV is the must-have game from the launch titles.
Quick guide, since I'll be keeping all these in one weekly thread: - DS/DS Lite: Plays DS games and Game Boy Advance games. Doesn't play DSiWare downloads or 3DS games. - DSi/DSi XL: Plays 99% of DS games, as well as DSiWare downloads. Doesn't play 3DS games, Game Boy Advance games, or DS games that require the Game Boy Advance port (Guitar Hero games, some piano trainer thingy, one or two others) - 3DS: Plays 3DS games and 99% of DS games. Doesn't play Game Boy Advance games or DS games that require the Game Boy Advance port. Doesn't currently play DSiWare games, but a system update is coming which will enable that.
I was all set to grab a 3DS, but the battery life sounds like a killer. Not to mention the fact that this is one of the worst launch lineups I've seen in ages. I remember being dazzled by all the demos at E3, but I didn't think that a chunk of those games wouldn't make launch.
I got one, along with Lego Star Wars, Street Fighter 4, and Bust-a-Move. We also got a new kitten this weekend, so I haven't had as much time to mess around with the 3DS as I was kinda counting on, but... - Street Fighter is the showcase game. The 3D looks awesome and the game plays really well. - Bust-a-Move is Bust-a-Move. - Haven't tried Lego Star Wars yet. - Face Raiders (onboard game) is pretty fun, but hard/embarrassing to play on the bus, since you have to pivot 360 degrees to find/shoot enemies. - Haven't done much with the AR Games yet. - In general, the 3D is awfully neat, and I don't find it causes vision problems or headaches or anything. I give the 3DS to friends and they struggle for 3 seconds to find the sweet spot and then "WHOA!" The 3D camera, in particular, gets a good reaction (though the resolution is pretty poor and the pics wouldn't look good on anything other than the 3DS). - Having said that, the 3D is also inessential. You can turn it off and play the games just as well. - There was a system update on Sunday that included the OK Go video for White Knuckles. The 3D in it was okay but nothing special. - The Mii Maker says I have a permanent scowl and a fat head. Score one for the Mii Maker.
I'm glad you like the 3DS, Mr. James. We have a display of it at my store, and I didn't care for it. Furthermore, many people have complained about it causing headaches or generally being difficult to get in the right position to see the 3D. When it didn't sell that well on the launch day (I was told we sold around 10 and we thought all 32 we had would sell out on the first day), I actually was tempted just to buy it.
After hearing all the bad press, I am now more than willing to wait until Zelda comes out in the summer. That was my initial plan all along, and it really does need a few more killer titles to get me ready to buy it. That being said, SSFIV did look awesome.
"Put on your helmets, we'll be reaching speeds of 3!" "It was nice of you to give that dead woman another chance." "All right, look alive everybody...oh sorry Susan."- MST3K: Space Mutiny Click Here (myspace.com)
I think the 3DS might be the first Nintendo handheld I won't own. (we'll see if I hold to this when Zelda comes out... I did play all the way through Zelda and the Phantom Hourglass of Soul Crushing Repeated Time Limited Levels)
Hmmmm.... well, one of the public libraries in Cheyenne, Wyoming used to stock basically all the original Nintendo games as they came out. If you had a Library card you could rent one game for five days. It was awesome.
