I don't suppose anybody happened to watch BOTH the Kings/Rockets and Lakers/Spurs games earlier today? Since the (maybe not so) highly improbable happened and the Kings won AND the Lakers lost, the Kings now have a half game on the Lakers, so NOW I'm suddenly a lot more interested than I would have been had I learned that any of the other outcomes had happened. How did everybody look? (Next time, I'll probably just tape the games and watch them during my copious amounts of free time. RIGHT. ;-) )

Sacto's remaining games:
6 Tue New Orleans 7:00 pm
8 Thu Minnesota 7:00 pm TNT
9 Fri @ Phoenix 7:30 pm ESPN
11 Sun L.A. Lakers 12:30 pm ABC
12 Mon @ Denver 6:00 pm NBATV
14 Wed @ Golden State 7:30 pm

And the Lakers:
6 Tue Portland 7:00 pm TNT
9 Fri Memphis 7:30 pm
11 Sun @ Sacramento 12:30 pm ABC
13 Tue Golden State 7:30 pm
14 Wed @ Portland 7:00 pm

That game NEXT Sunday should be interesting. I'd tape it, but I'll probably just try to get it on the radio (or take a REALLLLLLLLLLY long lunch)

If Sacramento can take care of business next Sunday, they should be able to hold on to the division and keep the 1 seed due to having the tiebreaker with the win. Then again, the team ending up with the 3 seed could have an easier path than the 1 seed in the West, as the 3 would, in all likelihood get Dallas in Round 1 (and despite beating the Kings the other night, they are going out in Round 1) and, should the seed hold Minnesota (or Portland) in Round 2. Considering Minnesota would be holding a parade for winning 1 round and Portland's history for implosion, the 3 seed should be able to get through either team.
The 1 seed conversely would have Denver/Utah/Portland in Round 1, which, though relatively easy, could present some difficulties. The problem would be Round 2 when they would get the Memphis/San Antonio winner (should current seeding hold, should San Antonio jump Minnesota, then the 1 seed has the easier road), which means either facing a Hubie Brown team in Round 2, or the defending champs with Duncan in Round 2. I can't see the team that has to go through Duncan in Round 2 getting through the Western Conference Finals (or even getting to the Western Conference Finals).

I want you to know, I agree with everything I just said.

Portland or Golden State:

You're not in it anymore. How's about kneecapping a few of LA's starters? (And I mean the Lakers... even the Clippers don't care about the Clippers.)

Also, someone explain how a conference can be so top-heavy that at least four playoff teams are going have losing records. Anyone?

I didn't see the Sac game, but I saw the Lakers game, the Lakers were very up and down the whole game, mainly because of fouls. Shaq went out early with two fouls, then came back in and got a third (this is still before halftime) and had to sit again. There was one point close to the end of the game where Kobe got the team fired up and the Lakers got on a roll. A couple dunks in a row by Shaq got the crowd back into it, it was about an 8 point run that only took about a minute. Kobe made a three to cut the lead to three and i thought for sure they were going to come back to win it, but then at the end of the game they needed to make a big shot to close the lead to one and they gave it to Shaq, who shot an ugly shot. I mean I know Shaq is dominant, but you have to give Kobe the ball. Anyway, Spurs got the ball back on the miss, Duncan hit a couple of free throws and it was easy.

So the Lakers looked a little lost when Shaq was out, but they seemed to be able to turn it on just about any time they wanted, they just made a poor decision by giving Shaq the big shot.

Not to take anything away from the Spurs, they looked great. Parker was awesome, he scored, he passed he played great defense. Ginobili and Bowen also played some great defense as well. And Turkoglu had some big hustle plays. Honestly if I were the Kings I wouldn't want to play either team right now. So like RSN said, Kings better hope for the matchup that gives them the TWolves in the second round.

But none of it matters, the Grizzlies are winning the West.

As for the East, it's possible that Miami and New Orleans both finish with winning records, making six winning teams. Then again there's always a chance they don't, and the Bucks drop under 500 to make just three teams with winning records. Ouch. I think they should let Utah and Portland play in the East playoffs this year.

For that game Shaq was 8/15 Kobe was 9/26. If it's me, I'm running the play for Shaq. I'm not saying Kobe would have clanged one off the iron or anything, but looking at those figures, he had plenty of chances.

I wondered when CRZ was gonna give his Kings a little Wienerboard love. Bring on the annual feud w/ DJFrostyFreeze for the Western Conference title!

And on a side note, props to the Milwaukee Bucks for locking up a playoff spot by beating Toronto (Bucks section of NBA.com) on Sunday. (*coughGeorgeWho?cough*) 1st-round home-court advantage is the next goal.

LET'S GO BUCKS!

My theory is that the West teams have had to load up to (first) try to beat the Bulls and (second) to try to handle the Lakers, so there has been more urgency to get that done for the last 7-8 years.

I have all four teams left in the Final Four so I am pretty psyched. Of course, with the money I spent on various pools, even if I win I will proabbaly only break even! Oh well, it;s been a great tournament to watch.
