The Observer website is reporting that Doug Furnas, former AJPW, WCW, WWF and territorial wrestler, has passed away.

Always one of the best drop kicks. And great in AJ tags with Dan Kroffat.

Furnas and LaFon were quietly one of the best tag teams in the WWF at the time. If the company had bothered to book around their lack of personality, they could have been something special.

Rest in peace. I was going to say yet another one who went before his time, but I suppose fifty-one is pretty good going for a wrestler who obviously abused steroids for much of his career.

I expect it to be true in the end, but technically the Observer is reporting the reports, and has been unable to confirm or deny his death.

Exactly. Furnas and LaFon were spectacular workers, but they needed a mouthpiece oh-so-badly. (I think they might have had Lance Wright in the ECW days, but that doesn't count for much). I seem to remember the WWF teasing Jim Cornette managing them at one point, but it never came to pass. Damn shame.

The return of "My Way" by Limp Bizkit to WWF television...in a video game (it was WWF RAW) commerical. Was a year long enough? I'm thinking "no".
