Tequila was invented in Southern California. Unless everyone here is crazy now, I'm pretty sure it's still limes with Tequila.

Salt & Lime - not Salt and Lemon. EW.

And here I thought Tequila was invented in Mexico.
FYI, the higher end tequilas that are out won't leave you with as much of a hangover the next day.
And I have seen lemon and I have seen lime, but the most common is tequila and lime.
Oh, and the term limey came from sailors that were developing scurvy on long ocean voyages until they began taking large quantities of limes on the voyages and eating them to prevent the disease thus they became known as limeys. If I have my history correct, because Great Britain had the largest and most feared naval force for a long time they were the most well known to use the limes and thus they became limeys.
Although I could be wrong about that part.

Looks like another trip to the bar for me. What? It's only 9:05am? Darn...bars open at 11:00am here. Oh well...

The same thing with the limes goes for the French when they made their way to present day Quebec...only I heard that they ate oranges all the time instead of limes.

I'd just like to point out that Southern California was once part of Mexico, so in essence, you were kind of right Guru.

That is just SO wrong. Everyone (except you, apparently) knows that it's a wedge of lime that you jam into the top of the bottle and just let sit in there for some CORONA WITH LIME GOODNESS.

On a related topic, I had this friend who was able to stick his finger in the top of the bottle and turn it upside-down so the lime would sit at the bottom, but I always messed it up and just ended up with beer on my finger. Anyone know the trick to that?

I don't know if I'm just not picky or something, but I've used both limes and lemons when shooting tequila; it was always more a question of availability and the whims of who was picking up ``supplies.''

It should be noted, however, that a Margarita, by definition, is crushed ice, tequila, and lime juice, which should stand as a hint.

Again, with Corona or Dos Equus or del Sol beer, I've used both lime and lemon. And you generally get much better results by using your thumb for the bottle flip trick. The real key to that is pushing the wedge in far enough that it will release from the neck of the bottle. Oh, and obviously, you have to release your thumb slowly...

Man, they don't even teach kids how to drink right anymore.

how come you're so afraid of things that dont make any sense to you? do you water your raisins daily? do you have any raisins? is there anything that does make sense to you? are you afraid of twelve button suits? how come you're so afraid to stop talking?

Shit when I was a kid I learned the hard way. Mixing little bits of everything from boxed wine to sherry to whiskey and everything in between into one big cup and chugging really, really fast. The key is being really fast, and if you were lucky you could sneak out to have a cigarette right after to help drown out the wonderful flavor of your concotion that's making you want to gag, at best. God, just thinking about it brings that awful taste back into my throat...I should have just sniffed glue.
