How in the hell can you not get up for your season opener. "They were looking forward to the Jets" excuse isnt going to fly. Wandstadt is gone after this season if they dont make the AFC title game!

Wannstedt should probably be gone now. The Dolphins are a decent team that could make a serious playoff run assuming that they get there and don't collapse in December again. But the game against Houston was just unfathomable.

Take the snap, hand off to Ricky.
Take the snap, hand off to Ricky.
Take the snap, hand off to Ricky.

It worked last year, why not yesterday? What kind of ridiculous soft defense were you playing in the 4th quarter, Miami? Letting Houston's WRs get first down after first down? C'mon, man...

Thanks to the magic of NFL Sunday Ticket, my best friend and I were able to watch his Chiefs roll San Diego while my Dolphins were embarassed by the Texans. My Dolphins-incuded ulcer started way too early this year...it usually doesn't kick in until early December.

As Houston was coming back to win the game, that was almost exactly what I said.

"Hey, isn't this a little early for them to be blowing games?"

Look at it this way; if they get their blown games out of the way now, they could rack 'em up in December.

(On a side note, 3 handoffs in a row looks a lot like our offensive game plan from last year - the one that finished 85th in the nation. Maybe they should pass some.)

To be fair, the 'genius' Wannestadt did deviate away from that plan in the season finale last season as his Dolphins were choking away the division title in the last week of the season against the Pathetics by throwing into the wind inside his own 10 in the last 5 minutes with the lead. Wannestadt vs. Jets Offensive Coordinator Paul Hackett next week could really be an event that MENSA will be paying close attention to.

Wandstedt is a good defensive coordinator, but he is a horrible head coach ...

Is Wandstedt the one calling the plays? Being a former D-coordinator I doubt it. He is big on delegating athority, maybe you should be looking for that O-coordinator when you gather the lynch mob.

Rhetorical question.......

If Miami and New Orleans played each other in December, who would win?

Scoreless tie?

As a big Fins fan, I have three things to say...

1. Why o why is Fiedler throwing an out pattern with less than 2 minutes left in the game, when the lead is 2 and you are at your own 30. 99% of coaches would not call that play with a QB with the strongest arm in the world, let alone Fiedler...

2> Ricky carries 17 times for 69 yards (4.1 YPC) Why the hell is he not carrying the ball 30 times for 121 yards.

3> I think the defense stayed in the locker room. How do you not get a sack on Carr, force him into a pick, anything...

Wannstadts got a couple weeks grace. If they lose the the Jets and Bills, I would get rid of him. The 4th week is the bye week. I would not, would not, would not make Turner the coach.

What will be needed is someone to motivate this team. Not sure who that is and hopefully they beat the Jets and Bills and then I won't find out...

The Dolphins psyched themselves out in this game, plain and simple. Instead of just going out and doing their thing (run and play D) they tried to be clever in a game that simply didn't need it. Why are they starting the game with Fiedler throwing over and over? There's an old adage that says if you're a running team you run until they prove they can stop you - why this wasn't followed I have no idea. It's almost as if some heavy cloud of ignorance is hanging over Miami. When Marino was still there they tried desperately to be a running team, now that they have Ricky they want to be a passing team. I understand the idea of not wanting to be one-dimensional, but if you play to your own weakness from the start all you're doing is helping your opponent beat you. I wish someone down there would wake up, it's painful cheering for a team that at times looks to be so ineptly managed that a 12 year old could do a better job.

1) Dolphins split w/ the Jets last year, beating them 30-3 at home.

2) I didn't see the game, but I think the Texans had Carr work off a 3-step drop a lot of the time, which would be why they weren't able to sack Carr.

Miami will beat the Jets this week.

But that Dolphins win last year was the first time that Miami had beaten the NYJ in years, correct?

I seem to recall that one of these teams always beats the other. I could use the help for my football picks this week, :)

It "worked" last year? Is that why the Dolphins' offseason started in December?

The Jets won, I believe, 10 straight over the Dolphins, including a playoff win or two. It might have been 9, it might have been 11, but you get the idea.

Well, "worked" in the sense that Ricky gained 1853 yards last season, yeah. When they got away from it (as they did in that fourth quarter against the Pats in Week 17 last year) they suffered.

Ricky can't score touchdowns if Ricky doesn't get the ball... Wait' I'm I getting my Ricky Hendersons and Ricky Williams confused, naa I think he talks in the third person as well.

Dave Wanndstedt is a lot like Ray Rhodes, good co-ordinator, but just not a head guy.
