I feel like an idiot for asking this, but my brother's convinced that the TNA story where Mick Foley is a majority shareholder -- or whatever -- in TNA is real.

Is it true, as my little bro insists, or is it just part of the storyline, sort of like MVP being the "highest paid" member of Smackdown and while back?

Well, wait until after Sacrifice -- I'm pretty sure that the Main Event is actually for real. It's a shoot!

I've got a customer who comes in my store who insists, based on nothing whatsoever, that TNA is co-owned by Shane McMahon and Randy "Macho Man" Savage. (He also thinks everything that happened on TV ever is completely real -- except he does think Chris Benoit will be mounting a comeback any day now.)

Not mentally challenged in any way. Just really, really stupid.

My girlfriend thinks that the Ultimate Warrior was played by two people. I tried to convince her that RENEGADE was someone else...but it's still a challenge.

Since we're relaying stories of people who are stupid about wrestling, here's an exchange I heard on a podcast which is supposed to be about British people discussing video games:

Person 1: He started watching a wrestling thing, and I was talking to him, and wrestling is very complicated the way that like, the people ... There's like three different things, and there are three different companies that own different parts and different wrestlers. And wrestlers move between them, and they're all owned by these families, and the families take part in it. And the business deals are intertwined with stories and it's weird.

Person 2: Yeah, I used to watch the wrestles, up until about, I don't know, 2004 or 2003. I watched it for a couple years. I was well into it, proper and that. And it is [expletive] demented. It is confusing, for such a stupid show. Needlessly complicated.

Person 1: It's one of the things like, they've tried to mix the fiction with the reality to the point where you have no idea. Like, "So hang on, that big fat guy who's beating up that woman, who's like apparently ...", like I don't know. Hypothetical situation where a guy would just beat up a woman and steal a wrestler and have a baby and the baby would win Baby Championship and then be sold to another company, and it's weird.

Throw about a hundred more expletives in there, and I think we have some dialog from the next Quentin Tarantino movie.

That really doesn't sound all that far-fetched for a WWE storyline, and it's probably a bit too simple for a Russo masterpiece. I really figured Aurora Rose would have been Women's champion by now, but maybe they're just waiting to debut the Baby Championship. And for some reason, an image just popped into my head of HHH calling out Orton and Orton walking out with one of HHH's kids Velcroed to the title belt.

(I blame this entirely on Barak Obama who's stimulus package caused a major highway near me to be closed for repairs but didn't include the money to notify Google Maps of such, thus I ended up unwittingly driving about 2 extra hours last night, coming back from an indy show, and not getting home until 3am yet still waking up, inexplicably, at 7am. It was a damn good show, however, and Jerry Lynn is amazingly crisp for a man his age. Actually, he's amazingly crisp regardless of his age, now that I think of it.)

Isn't/Wasn't this a common misconception among casual fans? Not because of Renegade but because of other Ultimate Warrior-related shenanigans and rumors from the early 90s. I don't know if it was the Papa Shango-induced vomiting or what, but a lot of people used to tell me that the original Ultimate Warrior died/commited suicide/disappeared and the guy playing him "now" was not the original.

From the sounds of the latest old Wrestling Observer to be archived (04/13/92), there was speculation from the instant that he ran out at the end of Wrestlemania VIII for his big return.

It is the policy of the documentary crew to remain true observers and not interfere with its subjects.

Yeah, the "two Warrior's" thing started when Warrior made his comeback in 1992 and had dropped so much muscle mass from the last time he appeared (only around six months earlier) some people assumed it was a different guy playing him which in turn lead to all kinds of crazy rumours about Warrior dying in a plane crash or killing himself.

As for the baby winning a title thing - there is only one way for it to play out. Pregnant Diva #1 has just pinned the womens champion but an authority figure rules the unborn baby was technically the one making the cover and therefore the rightful winner. This of course means the mother would have to wait for the birth before she can reclaim the title. PPV rolls around and Pregnant Diva #1 pops the champion out but is too exhausted to capitalise and Random Diva #1 runs in, pins the newborn and takes off with the title. Kinda like Crash Holly for the new PG generation.

Should I point out here that Kevin Steen's son Owen has a pin-fall victory in PWG?

As far as Foley/TNA ownership goes, I would point out that Russo is working there, so you have to go with his first rule of wrestling:

"Every match is better when it's a pole match."

Oops, my mistake, that's his second rule. Here's the first:

"Everything you see on TV is a work, except this, which is a shoot."

Kind of reminds me of the episode of Family Guy when Peter said "Everything I say is a lie... except that. And that. And that. And that. And that.

.......

And that."

That was absolutely disturbing. Either of those people ever get back into some sort of public spotlight, and I'm going to show up with some bowling balls to hurl at them.
