I know I'm probabally reading way to much into this but I just read that WWE was going to bring up Matt Cappotelli to challenge Chavo for the Cruiserweight title and start an program. However, Matt suffered a concussion while working a match with Holly on 4/24 in Tulsa that has been giving him lingering problems. Ironic that the superstar that beat the living s*** out of Matt on TE is now doing it to him on house shows

Does Holly have a problem with the young guys of WWE? First, he tries to make Lesnar look bad by botching the powerpomb in 2002 and then tries to take off Matt Morgan's head and now this. Is he jelous cuz these kids (Besides Brock) have bright futures ahead of them, something he never had in his career?

If you trust the dirtsheets, which you shouldn't, word is that Holly is just an ass in general.

I have to say I'm intrigued by you saying that Holly botched the powerbomb to make Lesnar look bad since (probably do to missing it when the news hit) I hadn't heard that before. He purposely tried to land on the very back of his neck and risk injury (which did in fact happen) so he could make Brock look bad?

I've heard that Holly is just a stiff worker who likes to make people pay their dues. I'm sure there's some professional jealousy there, what with him being around for 10 years with not much success, but I'm willing to bet that he just likes to work stiff, and he would have done the same thing to anybody he's in the ring with.

Matt and Holly had a match in OVW with no problems. On the other hand, Matt seems to be getting hurt a lot while working his way through OVW. Now some of that may just be worked injuries, but it seems like he has a cast or brace somewhere on his body every time he shows up in OVW.

Actually, Hardcore sandbagged (gave Brock NO help in the execution of the powerbomb), which led to Brock dropping the Hardcore one on his least used body part.

I think its just Bob Holly being the bitter over the hill injury proned jobber he is and having to take it out on young guys who are to green and think they are "paying dues"

Cappotelli is from around where im from and it pains me that a "local" guy who could of gotten a decent c-weight push (if there is such a thing) is now on the shelf again because of Bombastic Bob

My guess? Holly's not fond of the fact that so many new guys are getting pushes right now while his 15 minutes were cut short after about 11:45. But hey, I'm basing that entirely on internet reputation so who knows, hopefully this was just a bad coincidence.

Allow me to steal a quote from Ricky Morton, as told by Jim Cornette about Bob Holly...

"Bob, when we get into the ring, I want you to hit me as hard as you can, because your working punches are killin' me!"

Holly works stiff. He always had. If a wrestler doesn't like it, then he should give him a receipt. Brock broke his neck because of his lack of cooperation, and he still pulls this bullshit. He worked far too stiff with Cappotelli in training. He and some other men are just one small part of what's wrong with the business.

ACTUALLY...you have no idea what took place and are making a JUDGEMENT based upon YOUR opinion...but thanks for the input...this goes to you too MMM...but then I'm fairly sure we've had this discussion before.

http://the-w.com/thread.php/id=16587

Bob DOES work stiff...always has and isn't about to drop a level for the newbie's. Why practice soft on a guy if you're gonna take it up three notches on the actually show?? There is NO reason to. PERIOD. Hardcore is not the only guy to work stiff...Stone Cold and even RVD are notorious for it...that's how some guys were TAUGHT...and that's what they know...and that's what they pull in the ring...REGARDLESS of who's in there with them.

If there is such a problem with these guys (stiff workers I'm talking about)...as MMM seems to think...then why start a newbie on a program with someone that everyone seems to think is a stiff asshole?? Why not put Matt in with someone in his own division for a starter...Hardcore is a heavyweight...Matt is apparently not. And if the TE3 incident was such a HUGE DEAL...such a big mistake and so upsetting to Matt...then why toss him back to Holly for round two?? It's not as though many people are even going to relate the two experiences...no one watched that bloody show to start with!!

As for Matt...both of them for that matter *no pun intended*...they have both been shown to be VERY GREEN and sloppy in their ring work and none of that has to do with Bob...as Snookum pointed out.

You guys just love having someone to hate...and I guess Holly is your guy...congrats

Cheers,

Erin

I don't think Holly is nearly as bad for the business than Cappotelli and the rest of those Tough Enough losers. TE and anybody from that show sucks. If Maven joins Evolution, a dynasty becomes a farm team.

Why does Holly work stiff?

Because that's the only way he knows how to work. So that, in addition to him being an ass and a curmudegon in general, causes people to have negative reactions to him.

Hell, when Holly roughed up some kid on Tough Enough (Cappotelli or Heidenreich, one of those two, I think), even Al Snow, Holly's friend and fellow trainer, said, “I agree the kid needs to learn the nature of the business, but Bob, you were hitting in places that weren't especially safe, like the head and the back of the neck.”

If Holly had been wrestling 50 years ago, he might've been one of those guys who tore someone's eye out in order to prove that wrestling is real. He just likes to legitimately hurt people, I guess. In my mind, he's the least sympathetic character in WWE. And if you don't believe me, Let Us Take You Back to Holly's Royal Rumble match, as he battled Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship.

Despite the fact that Holly was the face, despite the fact that he had a great storyline built up around the match (“You broke my neck and stole a year of my life, you son of a bitch!”), there was still no bigger reaction from the crowd than when Lesnar F-5ed his ass in the middle of the ring. And by the time No Way Out came along, Holly was wrestling in a meaningless mid-card match with Rhyno.

And the closest he came to being at WrestleMania was during a video package (a replay from getting F-5ed at the Royal Rumble) touting Lesnar vs. Goldberg. The guy who two months ago had competed for the WWE Championship on a major pay-per-view was left off of WrestleMania.

49 people wrestled at WrestleMania.

You can't say WWE didn't give Holly a fair chance to be a main-eventer. In the end, it was doomed because no one gave a good damn about Hardcore Holly.

And I guess that's something he simply has a hard time dealing with. But instead of doing something about it, like a creative overhaul of his character* (like Mick Foley did when Mankind became the one babyface who liked Vinnie Mac, a fact that drove Vince up a wall), or improving his wrestling ability, or learning how to cut a promo, he takes it out on young kids who are trying to break into the business. And that's completely unacceptable; it's a wonder Vince has kept putting up with his bullshit for so long.

*--And no, Holly exposing his bare ass on Velocity is not an example of a positive creative overhaul of his character.

I don't think anyone here will be able to answer those questions. I hope you pursue the opportunity to ask Holly himself and report back to us.

Really, you MUST ask him in person.

Wait a minute! Holly is working stiff on a stiff like Hindenburg err, I mean Heidenreich, and we are getting on him about it? We should be praising him. Better to have Holly hurt one of these TE wannabes before they hurt someone else.

Adding to the speculation about Holly (seeing as no-one here knows him, or has asked him), I don't remember him being especially stiff when he had the permed mullet and the 'Spark Plugg' spandex, you know, when he was a little fresher and possibly less cynical. Maybe the guy has got a chip on his shoulder. VKM should send the guy packing to TNA or wherever and give him something to get excited about.

This is outside the topic, but I think I would have enjoyed a Chavo-Cappotelli feud.

Sorry, this is offtopic, but could you expound on this? I don't remember what you're talking about, but any Mankind talk is good talk.

Point made, but even YOU have to admit that Holly gives us plenty of rope.

Mick said in the book that Holly hits harder in a match than most people do in a real fight (paraphrasing) and then he had his little temper tantrum on Matt during Tough Enough. He's also said in an interview with Alex Marvez that he "doesn't get" why he never got a push, because he's got a good body and has paid his dues. So maybe he didn't sandbag Brock on purpose, but there's already a precedent set that he liked to give new guys a hard time. That's not going from dirt sheets, that's going from stuff that we've seen and read for ourselves.

RVD also worked stiff, but he toned it down after busting guys like Austin and Kurt Angle open on a number of occaisions. His stiffness may have also permanently stalled his WWE career, right when it was getting started. But Austin? I've never heard him referred to as a notoriously stiff worker.

I don't really care if Holly's bitter or not. He's boring. And as a fan, that's all that matters to me. The only time he's EVER shown signs of being a human being was during TE2 when he obviously showed a liking towards Hawk. That was cool, him being the gruff guy who wanted to help the young kid. But that ended pretty quickly. As did his push, for which I'm grateful.

It was Cappotelli, not Heidenreich, that he worked stiff with.
