I don't go to the movies that often, but when I do I like to stick around and read the credits. This seems to piss off everyone I ever go with- friends, wife, kids.
Today at "Monsters vs. Aliens" (thumbs up, BTW) I had a kid on each arm physically pulling me out of the theater.

I like to see the little bloopers and things they add on at the end-- like the special guest cameo at "Iron Man"'s end.

This has become less important now that we have www.imdb.com, but really what's three or four more minutes after sitting for two hours?

I haven't watched a movie inside a theater in a long, long time; but back when I used to go, yes, I would always stay to watch the credits. Of course, back when I first started going to the movies, end credits were much, much shorter than they are today.

One reason why I would make it a point to stay and watch the end credits is because, as dwaters mentioned, some movie makers reward those who do; sometimes with bloopers and outtakes, or (like with Abrahams and Zucker) with jokes and one-lines mixed in with the actual credits.

But the main reason why I would stay is a general philosophy I hold to whenever I go out. Most people, it seems, are "beat the crowd" types; that is, leave the game before it's over, get out of the theater as soon as the movie ends, etc., all in an effort to beat the crowd out of the door, out of the parking lot, and onto the highway. Me, I prefer to let the crowd beat me out the door. I watch the credits all the way to the end at the movies, watch all the various end-of-game activities at sporting events, hang around the lobby at shows and watch the unsold merchandise get packed back up, etc.; all so that when I finally leave, there's no more traffic to sit in, because everyone else has already cleared out. I've found that leaving public events in this manner is a lot easier on the nerves, and goes a long way towards keeping one's blood pressure in check. Plus, I've met a lot of interesting people in this manner, people whom I otherwise would have missed.

I stay for the credits and I find myself compelled to actually read them.
If I see a funny name I'll chuckle about that, but in general just marvel about how many people it took to make those 90 to 120 minutes I just watched.

Obviously it is mostly because I don't want to miss the extras.
And being able to walk out without getting crushed is another reason.
Luckily all my movie-going friends are the same.

always stay. Want to know the music, if nothing else. And my kids knew that - no tugging on Dad.

I always stay to the end of the credits...for three reasons:

1: it shows respect to all the people that made the movie possible.

2: I like to read the stupid technical details, and see where these movies were made

3: By the time the credits are over, the majority of traffic and crowds have dispersed, which offers an easier trip to the washroom or the car.

I am with you on #3 - only if my kids have not been "holding it" for half the movie. Then we make the mad "excuse me" rush to the bathroom.

Of course ... I payed full price for my ticket, so I'm going to get my money's worth and see every second of that movie from beginning to end.

Actually, when I went to go see the last "Hulk" movie, one of the members of the theatre cleanup crew actually came up to me and told me there wasn't any special extras at the end of the credits ... I suppose he was just being polite (maybe he thought he was doing me a favor by saving me the trouble of looking for an "Iron Man"-esque bonus), but it kind of pissed me off a little

I'm with most, if a certain song hooked me, I wanna know what it is. I'll also stay if I'm told there'll be something at the end of the credits (ex: The Matrix Reloaded, X-Men 3)

First and only time was for Iron Man. Maybe if I drove to the theater it would be different due to the crowds/traffic aspect, but any extra scenes are not worth the wait when I can watch them on youtube, dailymotion, etc.

Rarely. If I know there's some special thing during or after, I'll stand where I was if only to stretch my legs. But, after sitting for that long, I definitely need to stretch my legs.

Occasionally I have been walking out and turned and stopped when something extra showed up on the screen, or if there's a dispute as to who was in a movie. But more often than not, I'm out of the theater quick.

I always stay for the credits. Sometimes it's because I want to know who sang that one song, and I also like to find out where the movie was filmed (and try to guess where from the names of the crewmembers).

Of course I'll stay all the way through the credits. It's the same reason I'll stay at the ballpark through the goodnight song instead of leaving in the seven or eight inning: what is the point of trying to get out early when you're just going to get stuck in traffic and lose any chance to getting back home earlier in the process? In any event, sometimes I have trouble hearing people's names in the movies and like to check the credits to see what role they play.

Same here.

And of course for the chance to see an extra bonus scene.

Typically only for comedy movies, as they're the ones most likely to have an extra scene after the credits.

Oooh, good philosophy.

I also stay and watch the credits at the end of the movie, but it's mostly because I like to listen to the music. First time I remember doing it specifically for that purpose was Star Wars: Episode II. (Say what you want about the prequel films, but John Williams, at least, brought his A-game).

And then there was the neat sequence at the end of Finding Nemo where the characters played in and around the credits, and there was even a cameo by Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc.-- swimming by, with a snorkel and swimming mask. (Followed later by the Fish Tank Gang all escaping from their tank and out into the ocean-- only to realize, of course, they're still in their plastic bags. "Now what?")

For those staying till the end of Wolverine, don't bother.
There's a quick scene after the credits, but it adds nothing and foreshadows nothing.

I only stay if I know or figure something is added to the movie at the very end.
