Damnit, I want to see more female wrestling. And I want it prime time. I knew Trish Stratus back in her fitness model days and always knew that fitness chicks would make kick-ass female wrestlers. I think April Hunter should get signed by the WWF (she didn't have enough of a chance in WCW). Midajah should come over too, she was cool. Any other ideas?

the WWF already has more tits than they know what to do with(hey, that's exactly how the WWF uses their women, so don't get on my case for calling them that) so why bother to go out and get more?

Sure I'd like to see more women's wrestling. Problem is, there just aren't enough quality women wrestlers to sustain a whole division.

Hell, we're talking about the WWF here, the people who can't even put together a funtional cruiserweight division. And that's with them having a selection of some of the finest lightweights in North america on their roster!

Back to the women though, I remember being impressed with Jazz in her ECW days when she tagged with Tommy Dreamer. My primary concern is that even if she and Trish pull off a decent title match, where do they go from there? (I wonder enough of the old ECW fans will remember the "She's a crack whore!" chant to get it going again?)

Trish, Jazz, Molly and Jackie do not a division make. If there is a company split, hopefully one company will have a women's div and one will have a cruiserweight div.

Yeah, I like that idea.

The problem isn't that they use them for tits, but they use their tits improperly.

I mean, come on, if I remember the edgier, more exciting days, regardless of the women, mind you, I see images of, well, quite frankly, boobs, man.

Now, ok, I guess the women have CLASS now, or something, and don't want to be exposed on national TV. And you KNOW Trish doesn't want to show her stuff, even though she makes sure we see a good 3/4 of her breasts as it as anyway.

If you're going to hire a woman wrestler, hire a woman wrestler [seems Jazz and Molly are the best references here]. If you're hiring tits, hire some hookers on a more permanent basis than one night. Heck, I bet they'd be cheaper for the company than regular talent.

The trick here would be to hire hookers and then train them to wrestle without making it look like they were humping each other. I'm sure no one would mind, mind you, but the entire point is that we want to see more wrestling, RIGHT?

What?

RIGHT?

It's obvious why they have Terri getting wet though..
Trying to get people to watch EXCESS.

And it did advance a storyline..and we haven't seen a storyline for the women's title since last years rumble leading up to WM (the whole spanking contest between Chyna and Lita doesn't count)

The WWF needs to decide what to do with the female wrestlers. Although I sure don't mind seeing them prance around as they do now.. At least Stacy Keibler is an old school 'chick using her body to distract anyone so the heels can win'. nothing more right now and that is a good thing.

It would be interesting to see the women's division grow into something more mature, but even if you put them in one 'federation' after the split, imo it would still take away time from guys that deserve being on tv more..
I say leave it at this; some divas, some cleavage, some wrestling every now and then..

Now if only they went with that plan, but threw out the "title" nonsense. I mean, the women probably won't actually wrestle often enough to have one, under that plan. And I don't particularly mind...

As you know, I am one of the bigger fans of women's wrestling on this board. Here is my highly opinionated and unscientific ranking of the current "Divas" as I see them.

1. Molly (the best wrestler, the best looking, can adapt to any character/angle)
2. Trish ( is trying hard, looks great, tried to show pride in the title before the ghost of vince russo took over women's div booking)
3. Lita ( hard worker, not afraid to do spots, keeps in shape, will always be popular)
4.Ivory (one of my favorites and all time greats, loses points for not being on enough tv. I would not even know to rank her had I not read thecubsfan's jakked/metal report.)
5. Jackie ( I never really liked her, but she is tough as nails and can wrestle a decent match.)
6. Jazz ( same as jackie, needs to come out to Public Enemy "Welcome to the Terrordrome)
7. Stacy (looks good, not really ready to wrestle but tries when forced to. Great as a heel manager)
8. Terri ( looks good for her age, stays in shape. when she is being her natural self is tollerable, but the dumb "she devil" act is hindering her. probably has a good mind for the business considering how long she's been in it.)
9. Torrie (average in the looks dept. she needs to go to wrestling school to really be worth anything.)
10. Stephanie (Wow, had to include her just to get 10. We need 4-6 more actual wrestling women in the fed to have a real div.)

Sharmell is not officially a "Diva" but should be. She needs more on air time to get us used to her again (those of us who remember her from WCW)She has trained to wrestle.

I've seen video of Madusa trying to train some of the WWF women to wrestle. Torrie Wilson is kind of pathetic and will probably never wrestle. But what about the more athletic types of models like Trish (although to tell you the truth, I didn't know she had it in her to wrestle as good as she does)? I'm sure there are plenty of other models out there who wouldn't mind wrestling...you could even throw "beefier" women like Chyna out there. I'm sure there are female bodybuilders out there who would like to be signed by the WWF, and many of them are actually better looking than Chyna in my opinion. Someone like Colette Nelson comes to mind.

Whatever happened to RIOT from WOW ? She would be a good add to the feamle mix - she got good crowd response and had a good trailer trash look going for her too

I would like to see a better women's division. I would like to see Molly as the Champ, too. But Trish will do, for now.

The problem is, the casual fan ONLY see these ladies as two boobs and an ass. If nothing more, therefore we get less "wrestling" matches, and more "Odd liquid in a bowl" matches, and "Underwear" matches.

Although, if they bring back the Bikini contest, I wouldn't mind.

Where was I? Oh yeah!

The marks want to see the women get naked, the smarks want to see them fight. The majority wins.

Well when there is a story behind the matches, the marks get into it. Remember Ivory in RTC? Remember the Trish/Steph match from the Royal Rumble? But there has been little in the way of getting angles for the women. Well Jazz/Trish is a start, but Jazz has too many restholds for my taste. But if you only have 8-10 women wrestling, it really doesn't make for a division.

Someone said Trish really doesn't want to show off her goods? Come on, she was a fitness model and compteted in bikini contests. I don't think that she is above showing some ass or some tits on RAW or PPV. I mean, there is always a need to eye candy and if you can wrestle too, then that's better.

I would personally only want to see Trish, Jazz, Ivory, Jackie, Molly, and an improved Lita in the ring. Lita has the high-flying stuff down, but her basic moves or lacking big time.

Here's someone the WWF should sign - Lucia Stryker. She's a woman's boxer, but has a kickboxing background. She fit, tough as nails, and pretty hot to boot (In an Ivory sort of way). She also cuts pretty decent promos, despite the fact that English isn't her first language (at least decent boxing promos). The Fed could promote her as almost a Chyna-type in terms of kick-ass credibility, but a much more feminine version. Kind of Xena style maybe.

I would love to see the Kat back. Not really for for wrestling or even for looks, but because she really made me believe that there was nothing more she wanted to do than take all her clothes off and wrestle 3 other woman in a pool of rasberry jello in a front of 20,000 people and a live national TV audience.

If she doesn't get any gigs, I am sure we will see her go the Gorgeous George home video route.

Whatever happened to Woman? When Flair was battling Hogan in the WCW? (Which was some of the most entertaining wrestling of the 90s, if you ask me.) She was pretty cool. Asia (Christi Wolf) kicked some butt too in the WCW, although not that attractive.

I have a friend in California who was in a play in late spring of '01 with Riot and Jaquleyn Hyde... as far as I recall, she was working as one of the stunt people in (I believe) the Spider-Man attraction at whichever theme park that's at. The play never got past rehearsal stage, though, and I've lost touch with my friend since then... so I don't know what's going on now. Sounds like she pretty much had a day job, though, so I bet she's still there in some capacity.

The only way there's even a remote possibility of a women's division being taken seriously is if Lawler's not doing commentary. Bottom line. And he's not leaving anytime soon, I don't think.

Agreed, Mister Karlos.

His misogynic bollocks has some strange effect on the fanz.....from about Feburary to November there was no "puppies" chants. But now the Pedo King is back, we;ve got "puppies" chants again.

But really, one day some crazy feminist is going to shoot his bollocks off.....and that'll the end of him.

Oh, and Ivory for (Four Time) Women's Champion. Thank you!

Lucia Rijker (I believe that is her name, maybe she changed it to stryker?) is one bad mama indeed.
She is however waay to real to be doing wrestling.
She is originally from the Netherlands and I remember a few years back she was tired of destroying women in kickboxing and she then went on to tear apart men. She is lethal!
Imagine the Chyna and Terri ragdoll thing, only then with some lethal kicks and punches..
It wouldn't be pretty.

Ten women who can actually do stuff in the ring sounds good enough for me. Unless you want to fill two hours with women wrestling on Raw/SD you don't need much more.

and regarding Trish and showing her stuff, I think what was meant was her showing it all. Sure she prances around in bikinis and hotpants, but that is all she will do. She doesn't have to go naked, she doesn't have to flash or do wet t-shirts (on wwf tv). She is over anyways (and rightfully so.)although ofcourse it would be nice to see..
Oh yes..it would be nice.

As for the bodybuilders and models coming in. Everybody always said that wrestling is rather hard on you. That is exactly why Torrie Wilson, who was also a model, isn't any good in the ring. Trish worked hard to get where she is now, who says any other being brought in from the modelling or body building world will make it? No, the best thing I think would be to look for ladies that already have some decent skills..

Imagine this is some funny signature. Then I will imagine you compliment me on it.

Why not bring "Asia" to the WWF then? She has wrestling experience and didn't seem that bad. My only point in starting this thread was that women's matches should be a more normal part of wrestling shows. Would more than one match per show (or every other show; not really sure how often the women wrestle) really upset wrestling purists that much?

It's been well documented that the contract did indeed have the "reasonable creative control" clause in it, by both Bret and Vince in interviews over the years.
