Hey, in case you didn't know...

Digital Cable has a free preview of InDemand MLB package this weekend. Catch lots of free baseball today and tomorrow - I think through Monday?

The season package is probably around $129 - and I think its worth it. I've already signed up.

Man. That's a lot of games. Something to watch if wrestling sucks though

I would love to get the package again (I had it on the Dish where I used to live). But with a "normal" 8-5 job that requires me to get up around six in the morning, I would be throwing away money, since the teams I want to watch (M's, A's and G-Men) are on the Left Coast and start past my bedtime. And the other two teams I want to watch (Phils, Pads) I think still aren't part of the package.

Guru, do the Friars still have the 4Padres channel? I watch it all week when I come out to SD for the con.

Yeah, we get 140 of the 162 Padres games here locally... Still, the Pads are mentioned in the ads on cable (watch the Padres from Portland).

that's interesting.

Of course, I don't know if I'd watch the Pads as much as I would have in past years, since Tony is gone.

It still annoys me that the Phillies aren't on. Thanks, Comcast, you Dish-haters you.

Here's the link to the schedule - I do see a few Philly games in there, but you may want to check it out for yourself.

I dunno. The package could definitely be worth it for us 8-5ers. I mean you would miss some of the late games... but you would catch the weekend ones and the games where the where the west coast teams are visiting the east coast teams. I'm going to look into it. :-)

I have to admit, I picked it up because I wanted to catch the A's and Mariners this season. I'm tired of watching the Angels as the only AL action I can get around here.

I personally love the fact that my digital cable company doesn't offer the In Demand package. Not that I'd get it, as I'm doing that Starving Student thing, but, man, I'd have loved to get a week's worth of free baseball.

DirecTV had free preview from April 1-7. My wife lost me for the last week. With three kids (ages 2, 4 and 6) and a wife, I could wreck my whole marriage for just $159! So, we will take a pass this year, but man that's a boatload of games to see!

I haven't said this so far, but I wish there was an a la carte selection, where you just pay $5 or $10 per game whenever you wanted, rather than subscribe.

I'd love, when I had time, to watch out-of-market games, but I know I'd never get my money's worth.

Of course, in a perfect world, everyone's cable system would be a la carte and you could pick which obscure channels you wanted (Boomerang, Galavision, BBC America) and drop the ones you didn't want (HGTV, anything religious, Oxygen).

Totally agreed on the idea of the ala carte cable. Even more than that, I've always wanted to be able to pay a bit more and have commercials removed. If I'm watching a White Sox game, just keep the cameras in the ballpark, show the jumbotron, have the announcers chat, whatever, but I loathe commercials, and would gladly pay some sort of extra fee to remove them from my viewing.

I would love to have the commercial-free White Sox games, but would you really want to listen to DJ chat for a longer amount of time? I mean, it is enough to hear him say stupid things like, "a 1-0 tie" or how he hit 15 triples in one week. I can't stand him, and his constant references to who he played with. Darrin, you were a horrible player! Get over it!

Mark - your channel selection looks the same as mine. Love the Boomerang. How can you live without Huckleberry Hound? Except I have to share with the wife and she kinda likes HGTV and Oxygen and Lifetime and Liftime Movies and........ ugh.

I wouldn't go so far as to call DJ a horrible player, more the definitive journeyman, 7 teams in 11 years kind of guy. He did have one nice year for the Sox where he hit .312 in 1994, the year they won the AL West.

I sure do miss Paciorek though. He had a much better command of the mic than Jackson. Could be worse though. They could promote Bill Melton to color guy.

The price you pay for having "a normal life." However, being
the prototypical Gen X slacker (is that redundant?) means that I have disposable income only to spent on myself. So my dream cable would have lots of sports, lots of niche programming (forgot earlier the Game Show Network, as well as IFC/Sundance and the Encore Genre Movie package) and little that would appeal to most people outside my demographic breakdown (except for Food Network, but that's for Iron Chef).

Ahh, the Game Show Network. Does not Gene Rayburn absolutely rule?

Game Show network has to be the best thing ever.

As for the digital cable MLB package, who hosts the games? Fox? Because right now I have DISH network, and with the right tools (don't steal airwaves kids) you can get nearly every game on the Fox Sports Network (and the YES! network if you're a Yankees fan.)

Yes, it is mainly Fox affiliates from what I can tell.

I'm still waiting for the courtesy clerk to put my order through. Ugh. The trade-off is that I get it at half price if I'm patient and wait for it, so I guess I can't complain.

Man, I love baseball.

There is no sport that can touch baseball. It is by far the best sport.

Who is this courtesy clerk that gets you half price baseball anyway?

Ok, I finally woke up from my coma. A 10-1 loss is absolutely brutal. Having said that, I still think this goes 7. The Angels should win Lackey's game 5 start and I do think they can beat Pettite in Game 6. One point I'd like to make, though.
