I saw it, too. Alf? He was great like what, 10 years ago? More? Oh well, I used to love Alf. Too bad he got a gig in those ridiculous phone commercials.

I remember when Alf was the center square on Hollywood Squares. But only when Joan Rivers no-showed. Glass ceiling!

ALF?

ALF?

I really don't watch tv at the right times, I guess. Remember when everyone was talking about "the Taster's Choice couple" years and years ago? I never saw any of them.

Rikidozan... is there something we need to talk about, or.. eh?

Are you saying you just haven't seen the commercial or that you're completely unfamiliar with the cultural phenomenon that was ALF?

In a wonderful bit of popular culture synchronicity...

The guy who was in the Taster's Choice ads is Anthony Stewart Head, who is now Giles on Buffy.

Since Giles is not dead, I'd say he's just not currently on the show, but not completely written out.

Ms. Calender -- WAS.

Oz -- probably WAS.

Huh?

Did somebody mention chefs?

My guess: Chen Kenichi, Hiroyuki Sakai, Masahiko Kobe, and Masaharu Morimoto.

Pah! You guys know nothing! What about Ishinabe and Nakamura?

As an aside, I recently read a MAJOR SPOILER regarding the future of Iron Chef. I mean MAJOR. Seriously. Don't click there. You'll regret it.

See? Now you regret it, don't you?

Is the new Ripper show already on the BBC? If so, how do I get the BBC?

I saw that Alf commercial, too, which is to say I fast-forwarded through it while watching Buffy... man, Buffy was awesome last night. Anyway, all those commercial just annoy the shit out of me.

Did anyone see 24 last night? I've seen, like, 4 hours of it and I don't think I've seen a new show since November, but they're only up to like 10am... they still have 14 episodes to go. I thought I was really running behind, but maybe I'm not. I'm hoping FX will (at some point) run a bunch of the shows in sequence, like the ABC Cable channel did with Alias a few weeks ago (which i misses b/c I suck).

As far as I know, the only way you can get the BBC in the US is on a dish.

That having been said, I'm almost positive that Ripper won't premier until this fall.

I've always been a fan of reading Science Fiction, even though I find that I actually hate most of what gets published, I have to say that "Super Flat Times" by Matthew Derby is one of the best SF books I've read in a long, long time.
