Did anyone catch the Rock on Letterman last night? Here in the UK we get the repeat late tonight so I was wondering whether it was worth recording. Did he say anything regarding WWE or was he mainly just plugging Be Cool?
Mainly 'Be Cool' from what I saw. The only other part that I remember was when Letterman asked about steriods in wrestling, and The Rock dodged the question by giving some story about how he tried to be as fast as possible when he played football, which confused Letterman as it was such an obvious dodge, but he let it go and moved on. They talked about his Punk'd episode a little bit, then I switched back to RAW.
I saw the Letterman interview. If you're looking for him to say something about WWE, then keep looking. "Wrestling" was mentioned, but for an average viewer that doesn't really know who the Rock is, you wouldn't even realize that this "wrestling" thing is where he first became a star.
However, being a mark for the Rock, I enjoyed the interview. Be Cool looks pretty cool.
PW Insider, quoting the February (I think) issue of Playboy:
When the topic of steroids came up, Rock said that he tried them once for a month when he was young and never needed them as he was more interested in athletic training as compared to bodybuilding. He noted that he gets up daily at 5 am to train for over an hour. In regards to roids in wrestling he said, “...some guys still do them. TV audiences aren't blind. They can look at a wrestler's physique and tell the difference. I was lucky to be blessed with genetics, and I never wanted to be the biggest guy out there. Bodybuilding doesn't interest me as much as athletic training does.”
Maybe they are going for the man-breast image, I don't know. Oh and about Lesnar not talking, I remember a time in which Fred Blassie brought in a huge man who didn't talk much at all, and, in a play on a Marvel character, called him Hulk Hogan.
