| #1 Posted on 18.3.03 2227.19 | Is there anyway to set Dial-Up mode and Full Graphics mode to always apply for the same account, but at different locations? At work, I don't like sending requests to all the random servers that the graphics are hosted on so I've been changing to Dial-Up mode as soon as I log on. However, I always have to change back to Full Graphics mode when I get home, as I do like seeing everyone's avatars and sigs. (The irony to all this is that I have DSL at work and dial-up at home.)
Also, why is the logo the only graphic allowed in Dial-Up mode?
Thanks.
I apologize for being a Buffy/Angel mark.

| #2 Posted on 19.3.03 0219.18 | Instant Rating: 2.44 | I have the same problem, but backwards. At home, having all the pics on really slows things down, but at school (shh, don't tell anyone!) it's really fast anyway, so I turn them back on. But being a CS major myself, and being somewhat technically inclined, I can't think of a way to do that. Of course, I don't really know enough about how cookies work...
NOTE: The above post makes no sense. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sorry, nope. That mode is an on/off flag tied to your account - the cookie was always meant to contain the bare minimum and we don't plan on changing it.
The reason the spinning W gets seen in Dial-up is...hmm, because we never got around to excluding it, I guess. Maybe I'll change that tonight.

| #4 Posted on 19.3.03 0859.58 | That's the answer I was expecting. Thanks, though.
I'm surprised you changed the spinning W so quickly. I'll be glad to see it again at home.
I apologize for being a Buffy/Angel mark.

| #6 Posted on 20.3.03 1512.21 | In the site bashing Waylon Mercy thread (wienerboard.com), SOK posted a picture of Waylon Mercy that I, being on Dial-Up mode, can see. How did he do that, and should he be able to?

| #7 Posted on 20.3.03 1518.35 | Instant Rating: 4.95 | Dial-up Mode wipes out everything in the headers/footers of people's posts. That means funky background colors (like mine), any text that people add to the start of every post, and all sigs. Dial-up mode does not do anything about images people put INSIDE their actual posts, however.
 See?
I wish I could work the random images thingy.

Or I could leave it alone! Who knows?

But I had to put in an exemption for those #@$!$ smilies. ;-)

Yea!! I was on my way over here to bemoan the loss of the #@$!$ smilies. Thank you for the special case code! | EddieBurkett

| #11 Posted on 20.3.03 1739.36 | I'm sorry for making you go through so much effort. I was just curious as to why SOK could do what he did. I didn't mean for you to go and rewrite code (although I am grateful that you did, thank you.)
I don't know if the other dial-up users are going to be pleased with all the changes that have resulted from this thread or upset.
Edit: And, I know you're a deity around here, but how did you reply to yourself????
